After Arteo popped on to the ward a few days ago with his latest tune ‘You’ll Never Know‘, he’s now returned with his beat making brother, Dubra, with not only a new free track, but also a nifty free mix too.
Their new track ‘Blind’ is a sublime piece of liquid bass funk that uses a Snoop Dogg sample and compared to their hefty hitters they’ve conjured up before, this one has the feel of a tune you can quite easily sink into with complete ease. That goes for their mix too which features their new tune along with Arteo’s latest track and a several other unreleased tracks that will no doubt see the light of day sometime very soon, fingers crossed! Top draw Bass Funk business from two dudes who are making very deserved names for themselves.
One of the top funkin’ labels on the planet, Bombstrikes, are responsible for delivering Dubra and Arteo’s new tune and you can expect even more from this combo as the guys have an EP due out on the label in the not to distant future. Keep your eyes peeled for what will undoubtedly be something very special.

It wasn’t too long ago that Nick Behrmann was testing the foundations of the ward with his ‘Lost Transfer‘ EP and now he’s back doing it again! This time it’s his intense and insanely good Acid infused Techno track ‘Twister’ that is doing the damage, both to the structure of the building and our minds! In for remix duties of Nick’s track is, Beat Tempest, who throws the cloak of darkness over the original which gives it a more sinister vibe. Both tracks are amazing and will have you zoned out and locked on from beginning to end, so press play to make your day!

Madame Electrifie – The 5 Trick Pony
We’ve all been there, someone comes along and ask’s “so what music are you into?”. Madame Electrifie found herself in this exact position a while ago and like us here on the ward, her taste is very vast and varied, so to try and explain it all would take an absolute age. Madame Electrifie’s answer to that very question though is ‘The 5 Trick Pony’, which features a selection of mixes that showcases all of the different styles of music she loves. From from Hip-Hop to Vintage remixes to Breaks to Disco to House and D’n’B, it’s all been covered. A lot of hard work has gone into these mixes and from the quality of the music on offer and the way the mixes are laid out, it really shows and has massively paid off! To go along with each mix, Madame Electrifie has a super cool picture, giving a visual idea of what’s about to go down also. After all, that is her day job, so why miss the chance to have a little fun.
Lined up below are the 5 mixes, which are all amazing in their own right and come complete with the always handy tracklists.
Hip Hop Hooray
The first of these 5 mixes focuses on Madame Electrifies love for the funky side of Hip-Hop and Ghetto Funk. There’s plenty of names in this mix that we’ve featured here on the ward so you’ll already know that this one is gonna be bang on point, and it is. 50 minutes of the finest beats, Breaks and Funk around.

The vintage sound of Electro Swing is arguably what Madame Electrifie is most recognized for which leads us neatly on to her ‘Vintage remix’ mix. Effortlessly flowing from the traditional Electro Swing sound and into some vintage influenced Drum n Bass giving the mix floor filling appeal.

read moreHostage February 2016 Mix + New ‘Fluxx’ EP
Stepping up with a whole load of beats and beard is that man, Hostage. This time around it’s a double helping of music and first off is his new monthly mix. As always, quality music can be expected from the very start to the very end, with a selection of his current faves and new unreleased material on board. The mix itself is one that builds with intensity and carries a strong warehouse vibe. Dark, edgy Techno, House and Bass are to be found in this one hour mix. Get locked on to this one for some heavy duty aural pleasure!
The second helping of, Hostage music, comes in the form of this new four track EP called ‘Fluxx’ which has been released in collaboration with, Four Three Six. The idea behind this and several other collabs, Four Three Six have been involved in, is to bring back the lost link between music and physical art. The days of buying vinyl and not only admiring the music you just brought, but also the sometimes mind blowing artwork someone had taken great care to create, seem but a distant memory as the viewing space grew ever smaller.
Four Three Six, are hear to change all that though. What these guys do is hunt down a producer that’s really rockin’ it in their respective scene and kindly ask them if they could put together a four track EP for them. When said producer, in this case, Hostage, accepts and sends the music over, that then gets sent to an artist of choice, in this case the super talented Bristol graffiti artist, SPZero76. The artist/artists then immerse themselves in the music and use it as inspiration to create a piece of artwork to go on a quality t-shirt as part of a wearable release. When you buy the t-shirt, printed on the inside is the tracklist of the EP plus a code to download it. Instead of putting artwork on the wall or on a shelf, you get to wear this and look badass all at the same time! This is the t-shirt that you can buy and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s pretty f*ckin’ sweet!
So now you’ve checked out the cool threads, on to the music that spawned such killa artwork! The EP from, Hostage, is hugely inspired by his love of 1990’s rave culture and hardcore Techno, the times of unity, love and respect. The title track off the EP ‘Fluxx’ is the perfect indicator of this inspiration, offering the peak time rave feel which gets a little darker as the EP goes on, right through to the final track ‘Kilt’ which is a proper ‘heads down, stomp on’ Techno monster. If you’re looking for nu-skool Techno, heavily laced with old skool flavour, these four tracks should be top of your list!
