Monki and Friends EP 3
Monki has propelled herself through the ranks of the music world at break-neck speed! At just the age of 12, Monki, was locked on to pirate radio stations broadcast across South West London whilst also checking specialist shows on Radio 1 and Rinse FM, training her ear to the hottest new sounds around.
A few years on and Monki had enrolled at Hackney’s Point Blank Music College and after practising mixing at a friends, she knew music was to be her choice for life. A work experience placement found her at revolutionary free love and 60s pirate station, Radio Jackie, which then resulted in an internship at the legendary, Rinse FM. Getting through the first year of newbie chores Monki was offered a Thursday morning slot and to say it was a success would be an understatement and a prime time Saturday slot was soon to be hers. Now, Monki, has her own label, Zoo Music and can be found every Monday night on Radio 1 / 1Xtra at 10pm – 1am (GMT) playing her box fresh Bass music finds to the masses.
The EP posted is the third in a series showcasing some cracking artists and friends of Monki’s from the Bass music scene and beyond that’s released by, Red Bull Studios. This one features 12 artists working together on various tracks which includes music from SG Lewis & Zak Abel, Wayward & Après, Lxury & Billie Black, GotSome & Tazer, NYTA & Woz, Kalyde & Applebottom with foot shuffling Garage beats and some more upfront Bass House.
