L.A based, Friskie Business, has been pushing the Funk sound for almost two decades now, so when you come across a mix from him, you know the tracks he’s chosen are gonna be on another level. This is the case with his ‘Funk Soul Variety Hour‘mix. The mix is a midtempo based one, but it’s not all about all guns blazing bangers. The selected one hour of tunes have been geared towards an afterparty vibe, when it’s time to rest those weary feet and take stock of what just went down at the crazy party beforehand.

The music takes off on a real chilled note and builds along the way and although there is the odd heavy hitting tune from halfway onwards, it’s still a very cool mix to listen to and one that takes you on a journey through re-imagined classic funk, soul, hip-hop and beyond. He’s blended Fort Knox Five‘s ‘Reach’ with ‘Real Hip Hop’ by Das EFX and the result is a very tasty and horn heavy slab of funky Hip Hop that you’ll soon find you need in your possession!

The mashup was created so that it could feature on Forrest Funk’s ‘BAAANG’ mix he dropped a couple of weeks ago. It kicks off on real smooth note but soon gets going with a bevy of bangers to make your party jump. Give it a spin below.

We’ve struck it very lucky this time ladies and gents because we have for you the world premier of Fort Knox Five‘s ‘Funk The World 36′. This makes us super happy here on the ward and for me personally as I’ve been a long time admirer of these guys. After my late arrival to the world of the internet and to Soundcloud, Fort Knox Five were one of the first few artists I discovered on the infancy of my musical adventure. They’ve wowed me and I’m sure many of you with everything that they’ve done and they’re doing that very thing once again with their brand new mix that’s so fresh, it’s piping hot and crispy on the edges. Inside you’ll find a succulent and sublime filling of the smoothest funky jams on the planet. Come one, come all, and hop on the groovy train!

It’s just over a week now that Fort Knox Five will be celebrating their 100th release and of course they’re doing it in style with their ‘Pressurize The Cabin Remixed’ album.
