The not so conventional act that is Slamboree is this weeks guest for the Armory Podcast.

Recently described as a mash-up of Basement Jaxx and The Rocky Horror Picture Show performing at The Moulin Rouge, Slamboree are one of a kind ensemble. The idea was hatched in the deepest darkest crevices of multi-award winning producer Mike Freear’s mind after working closely with vocal powerhouse and linguistic snake charmer Kathika Rabbit and guided by the tantalising visuals of theatrical artistic director Lizzie West.

Slamboree is a collective of multi-skilled, revolutionary performers and musicians that put energy, passion and pure insanity into their unique and extravagant immersive stage experiences. Bringing the Slamboree storm to clubs and festival stages across the world – this is unlike anything you will have seen before.

From touring in the early 1990’s and being part of the legendary outfit that is The Prodigy, Leeroy Thornhill’s love for music has never strayed far. With a bunch of edits, remixes and tunes up his sleeve Leeroy has just dropped a new Bass & Breaks mix, it is well worth some of your attention.

Hyping the crowd LIVE recently at the Pegasus Lounge in Florida with an opening set of Booty Breaks before local legend DJ Fixx took to the stage, DJ Truk presses all the right buttons in this excellent mix to warm the crowd up just the right way.

As the sets from this years Shambhala Festival slowly make their way to the internet the next one to drop is from all round superstar Neon Steve. Whilst it’s not an all round straight up Breakbeat set this mix still kicks with a selection of all types of genres highlighting the fact that Neon Steve can drop a full up party flavour set.

The ever elusive and mysterious DJ Peaceful has uploaded a new mix to Soundcloud. The Breakbeat Junkie is treating us to an extra funky slice of Breakbeat with a top draw edit of ‘Make Your Own Bed’ by, Reuben Howell. OKNF Collective return with volume 7 of their incredible ‘We Are OKNF’ LP series. This time around the Brooklyn flavoured bass driven House that we’re normally served up, has been replaced with a fiery Brazilian flavour instead as Brazilian producer, MKJAY, takes the reigns to curate this one. As well as featuring on the LP himself, he’s also drafted in a number of highly skilled producers from his homeland to bring us 9 free tracks that are hotter than licking the sun! It’s always a great day when we get to send your way music from, WBBL, and it’s made even better when there’s 2 helpings from him! The first of these is his jaw dropping Drum n Bass remix of Childish Gambino‘s ‘Redbone’. It opens on a stunning Liquid D n B tip, which then flips to a feisty Jump Up banger. A gorgeous breakdown follows that then leads to more lush Liquid vibes and a big Jump Up hit to finish the track off in style. WBBL has used his remix to end many of his sets this summer and I’ve no doubts that anyone who has experienced on the festival front line, would have been absolutely buzzing to hear such a quality tune end what would have been an amazing set. It’s now free for all so spread a little magic at the next shindig you have.

Talking of amazing sets, here’s WBBL’s second helping of music, his 2017 Shambhala set from the infamous ‘Fractal Forrest‘ stage. If you’re thinking this mix is gonna be good, think again, because this 90 minute masterpiece is off the scale! His genre-defying dexterity on the wheels of steel is in full effect and the wobble, oh it’s there, big time! This is one of those mixes you’ll still be turning to in years to come, mark my words.

London based duo, Mihai Volonci and Sile Sandor, joined forces back in 2010 to form, GruuvElement’s. Techno and House is their love and since teaming up, they’ve gone on to make music that’s recognised by party people all around the world and have gained full support from some legendary names such as Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Pete Tong and Steve Lawler to name just a few.

My first introduction to their music was when I came across their edit of Soul II Soul’s ‘Back To Life’ and as soon as I heard it I knew it had to shared. Their cool House spin on a true classic tune samples the chorus from the original and also features what sounds like an interview with Jazzie B which is woven in perfectly and adds a unique and interesting twist to a classy tune.
