Your daily source of breakbeat, dubstep, electro swing, ghetto funk music.

We are back once again with another fresh and exclusive mix from the deadliest duo in breaks, 7DB aka Se7en Deadly Breaks. After a nod to the past with their last mix, A Tribute To Hybrid, they have set their sites clearly on the future with this forward thinking mix of all things breaks and bass. Along with a bass heavy set of the latest sounds they have signed up the talents of  MC crew Nu Jam, consisting of Mc Midas & Jay MC. After first hearing MC Midas & Jay MC along with the rest of NU J.A.M on the breakbeat/garage track “

” by Deekline and Ed solo, the 7DB guys loved the vibes and wanted to incorporate that style into a dj mix. Elle,a newer member of the Nu Jam family, also lends her formidable vocal talents to the mix set. It really gives another dimension to the set with Nu Jam complimenting the music and laying down their slick flows amongst the bass and beats. Never taking over but really merging with the sounds. This is the cutting edge in breakbeat sounds at the moment with many of these tracks crossing over into the realms of bass music, house and garage. Just as the music was meant to be from the start. A melting pot of influences and ideas all laced with that one special ingredient. BREAKBEATS!

A bit blown away at HYBRID THEORY‘s latest, out now on Ciao Records. The Four40 Records honcho continues his experiments in bass heavy house, combining a range of influences to bring forth exciting and original productions almost daily. The Dark is no exception – a melting pot of different underground characteristics brought together for any bass head’s sonic delight.

The title track is a percussive shuffler. A bit more 4/4 than 2-step, “The Dark” rumbles like a wonky uncle – a bit creepy but too fun to run away from.

The second track, “All Again,” just might be the favourite (although it really is difficult to pick just one). Here’s another shuffling cut where Hybrid Theory flexes his meaty muscles for some of the cleanest, yet devastating low end.

CROOKERS takes “The Dark” for a heavy romp through a deep cavernous garage. This is a jam that deserves to be played loud, on a proper club system.

Here’s some feelgood house music from Stockholm’s ORPHANS STHLM. Out on one of my favourite labels, 12-3 Recordings which is arguably the most under-rated imprint out there, the two track release offers significant variety. The lead cut, “Chordux,” is what the definition of house should be: jovial, bouncy, and deep.

The second track, “Ripley,” is ripe with French flavours. Loopy and filtered this jam could seemingly find itself in the front of Bangalter’s crate.

Oh my days...

This kind of excitement takes me back to the day I discovered a certain Box Fresh mix by a certain A Skillz & Krafty Kuts all those years ago...

....if I was Canadian I might say that I am ‘majorly cheesing’ (which I am reliably informed means grinning from ear-to-ear like a Cheshire cat on disco biscuits)

So what’s all the fuss about? Well, I’m not sure how to describe it apart from an ingeniously crafted funky breakathon b-boy masterclass from the supremely talented mash machine and supremely nice chap we know as @pinx!

This mix, Multiplicity, is a blend of the following elements

Tracklist:
Intro - Chunks of Rhythm Scholar – @pinx Stitchup
Multiplicity (Chronicles of an 80's B-Boy) – @pinx Mega mash
Wiseguys Vs Public Enemy vs Fort Knox Five – Bring the OOh's (@pinx Mashup)
Fort Knox Five – Big Score
Stone Roses vs Afrika Bambaataa – Stone Roses Mash (@pinx Mashup)
M.A.R.R.S - Pump Up the Volume
Krafty Kuts vs The Beastie Boys – Body Movin' to the Bass Phenomenon (@pinx Mashup)
Muse – Super Massive Black Hole (@pinx Re-Groove)
Newcleus vs SkeeWiff – Heatwave Jam (@pinx Mashup)
Rufus Thomas – Itch & Scratch (Funk Ferret Edit)
The Breakbeat Junkie – Rock the Funky Beat
Sub Focus – Could this be Real (A Skillz Edit)
Krafty Kuts – Anthology
Yazoo – Situation (@pinx 2014 Re-Groove)
Dublex Inc. vs Q-Tip – Repercussion Mash (Featurecast Mashup) (@pinx extended Edit)
SkeeWiff vs Fort Knox Five vs KraftWerk Silently – Getting the Plot Together (@pinx Mashup)
Dutty Moonshine & Kid Kasino – Everybody
The Heavy – How You Like Me Now (Wick-it the Instigator Moombahton Remix)

Enjoy!

Three. It’s the magic number.

And B-Side, Detta and Ghetto Funk are going to prove it to us.

Apparently we have three guesses before they chop us into bits, bit harsh but here goes, by juggling three lilly livered Llamas? Nope, Shouts B-Side as he snaps on a pair latex gloves with the efficiency of a surgeon and selects an axe from the garage wall. Bugger. Ok. Ummmm, how about wrestling three frankly fearless foxes? Noooo, sing-songs Detta as he takes the axe from B-Side and swooshes it around a bit, whilst Ghetto Funk calmly lays out a roll of PVC and puts on a Huey Lewis CD. Crikey, these three mean business, might have been slightly too flippant with our first two answers, could they be sending the three Kardashian sisters round to smash my place up, shit in a box, wear kiss make up, strain urine through tights, tell bawdy jokes and regale me with tall tales of gay sailors? WAIT! That wasn’t an answer! I was just thinking aloud! Damn! Hang on, look at the calendar. Hey, are you guys releasing three EP’s in three weeks of three tracks each starting on the third day of the third week of the third month of this very fine year? Their faces have dropped and that’s a Huey Lewis REWIND if i’m not mistaken! Phew! Amongst much mumbling and grumbling the axe has been put back on the wall and Ghetto Funk is trying to neatly roll up the PVC.

That’s the power of love! Wait, that’s the power of three! It still is the magic number!

Released 19th March

2014 kicks off in style for Stapleton, aka Major Look, dropping his new single – Kid$ of 2moro. The DnB MC, turned song-writer / front man, returns to his story-telling roots for a tale about the new generation coming through strong.

To support the release, two of the freshest sounding remixers were enrolled and duly came up trumps. Need For Mirrors techy rendition will appeal to the dnb bassment ravers, whilst P.E.S.T half time version takes the original into a new territory.
