Blu Mar Ten – ‘Titans’ Marcus Tee Acid House Remix
On the face of it, it would appear here that Nottingham based, Marcus Tee, is a highly skilled and well established House producer, especially once you’re opening your mind up to this amazing Acid House remix of Blu Mar Ten‘s ‘Titans‘ that’s as impressive as it is intense. The real deal is though that Marcus is a Drum n Bass producer and his remix is a brief hiatus from his true love. Mind you though, if he continues to release House tracks of this calibre, I’m sure his fans will not be complaining, us included!
Have your mind bent by the heavyweight and dark remix from Marcus, then head over to his Soundcloud page where you will find a sublime remix of the same Blu Mar Ten track, plus a generous amount of top D n B tracks and mixes. Lots to be found, lots to be loved.

Meat Beat Manifesto – Radio Babylon [G ‘Baffled’ Smoove & Rare Nephew Remix]
G ‘Baffled’ Smoove and Rare Nephew are a couple of relatively unknown producers from London. Both have a handful of heavy-duty releases under their own names but have this time decided to team up on this remix of an all time classic, Meat Beat Manifesto‘s ‘Radio Babylon‘ and what a top job they’ve done. The tempo has been increased considerably with a contemporary Garage twist to boot and the bassline ain’t half bad either. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from these guys if this tune is anything to go by!

Electric Swing Elite – Hit The Road Jack (Der Blizzard Remix)
Ray Charles is no stranger to the remix treatment – there’s a nice selection of ghetto-funk reworks of his tunes out there (yes, Father Funk, I’m looking at you!!), and this isn’t the first attempt to remodel this classic tune for the dancefloor. So, I hear you ask, why is it worthy of my ears? The answer is simple – because it works. It’s not too swingy (Is that a word?) but brings that electro-swing feel from the off, based firmly around that instantly recognisable brass riff. Importantly it respects the original, pitching down to incorporate the inevitable singalong opportunities.

Friskie Business – Funk Soul Variety Hour
L.A based, Friskie Business, has been pushing the Funk sound for almost two decades now, so when you come across a mix from him, you know the tracks he’s chosen are gonna be on another level. This is the case with his ‘Funk Soul Variety Hour‘mix. The mix is a midtempo based one, but it’s not all about all guns blazing bangers. The selected one hour of tunes have been geared towards an afterparty vibe, when it’s time to rest those weary feet and take stock of what just went down at the crazy party beforehand.
The music takes off on a real chilled note and builds along the way and although there is the odd heavy hitting tune from halfway onwards, it’s still a very cool mix to listen to and one that takes you on a journey through re-imagined classic funk, soul, hip-hop and beyond. Kick back and enjoy the quality music on offer.

DJ Groovecellar – Bring the Funk back
As far as I’m aware, we’ve not had Swiss producer, DJ Groovecellar, here on the ward before which I’m toataly baffled by but hey, he’s here now and that’s what counts. After discovering him and having taken a trip through his back-catalog, this dude has a goldmine of music that’s just waiting to be found, owned, shared and loved. Many of his tracks are available for free including the one featured which delivers his more familiar Funky Breaks sound, with heavy helpings of Sam & Dave and M|A|R|R|S on this one and man it works! It’s a very worthy tempter and after a listen you’ll be wanting to hear more of his work for sure. Enjoy the awesome ‘Bring the Funk back’, then go fill up on more Funk on the Soundcloud link below.

Maxim - Baddest Breed Ft. Cianna Blaze (with InsideInfo Remix) [Death Drum Rebel]
Maxim just keeps churning out the quality releases this year, as he returns for his next release on Death Drum Rebel, with long-time collaborator Cianna Blaze. 'Baddest Breed' is yet more of Maxim's signature Drum & Bass sound but this time he has enlisted A-list remixer, Viper Recordings very own, Insideinfo.
Cianna Blaze has been working with Maxim for a while now, and the results are always top-notch. No change here on 'Baddest Breed', in fact, she is in rare form and spits with venom and passion over Maxim's rolling beats, bass and hunting synths.
Insideinfo then turns in an epic and Neurofunk flavoured reworking of the original that utilises Cianna's outstanding vocal perfectly. This is one for any discerning dancefloor warrior.
Maxim, Death Drum Rebel & Cianna Blaze are all on top form with this release. Add to that a gargantuan remix from one of the scenes biggest hitter in the form of Insideinfo and you have a very special release!

Future Wildstyle – Once Again EP
Buy bit.ly/2pSDK0l
Once Again, Future Wildstyle are back on Bass=Win to wreak musical havoc with the Once Again EP, a firey melting pot of Jungle, Breaks, Bass, Footwork, even a bit of Acid House!!!
‘Original Big Up’ continues on the path of Jungle Breaks devestation. The Jungle bleeps, stepping beats, snatches of Hip Hop are all present with a bassline that can and will reshape walls!!!
‘Turn It Up’ blends Ragga vox with floating 303s, heavy blasts of bass and a kind of 4×4 meets breakbeat fusion. Things get even more deep and house music like as the tune shuffles along.
Title track ‘Once Again’ bounces from left to right, loaded with great oldskool samples, a fast paced DnB/Jungle tempo and the cut up style of Juke/Footwork complete with half step interludes
‘Hotter Than Hot’ brings us back around to that funky intertwining of Jungle, breakbeat and a bit of oldskool dubstep. Another great showing from Future Wildstyle, doing it differently, doing it deadly!!!
