Paradise by way of Kensal Green is a magical and historic venue in West London, where we played this exclusive disco mix. 30 minutes of which is here for you to download and listen to. We grew up listening to Disco as kids, the whole thing felt kind of natural to us. -L&A

Artwork by Chicago street artist SARO:
“Brooks Golden was very much the old wise owl. Whichever the subject – art, music, or even politics – one could always count on Brooks for a golden conversation. He never lied, always said it like it is, and never apologized; that is a rarity these days. His long-time presence in the Chicago street art and graffiti scene made him everyone’s big brother, and that is exactly how he should be remembered. Rest in Paradise, Brother!” – Saro

Several labels released their #beatportdecade last week, with varying focus. While some labels took this as an opportunity to focus on specific genres or recent releases, KMS selected a single compilation of 10 tracks which they’ve touted as their top tunes of the past ten years. These tracks represent both the old and new sound of the landmark label; they demonstrate how the sound of techno has evolved over time.

The compilation delivers with some top names kicking us off; the opening tune is Pig & Dan’s “less is more” rework of the classic Inner City tune Good Life, a beautiful update of a track that doesn’t seem to have aged despite the years that have passed.

It then moves on to tracks from New York underground legend Brandon de Carlo, and a Carl Craig remix of the beautiful Till We Meet Again by Inner City. The compilation then moves to focus on some of the newer artists, the next generation of KMS who have really shown their stuff in the past couple of years. Ian O’Donovan’s stellar “Firefly” as well as Bicep’s tune “Vision of Love” are great examples from more recent times, as well as Dantiez Saunderson’s “Red Confession”.

The compilation is rounded out with two excellent tunes, highlighting 3 of the most exciting new KMS artists. John Norman’s 313 sings an ode to the motor city, while P-Ben’s remix of Killed Kasette “You” brings the new Detroit sound.

Overall, a very well-rounded glimpse into where KMS comes from, and more importantly, where it is going.

As the dust settles on what sounded like the best Burning Man to date, along comes a collection of incredible live mixes. With a jaw dropping 14 hours of music to get stuck into from Simon Shackleton, Funkagenda, All Good Funk Alliance, Kyle Cross, Genesis and Dj Three your weekend party music is pretty much catered for right here in one almighty electronic music lump.

This year was Simon Shackleton’s fifth year playing the sunrise set at the Nutz Camp. These sets which see him play for 6 hours have become more organic over the years and encourage Simon to dig deep into the world of deep, twisted and at the same time uplifting Electronic music, to find music that fits hand in hand with the spiritual dimension of the Playa. What we have here is a master class in track selection. Get settled in for a truly inspirational musical journey!

Funkagenda found himself at the Opulent Temple for this live set. An hour’s worth of some of the deepest, richest sounding Techno and Tech House sounds that would have kept the Burners stomping in the Playa dust for sure!

This is the first of two mixes that were recorded live from the Robot Heart camp and this one comes from All Good Funk Alliance. The set was streamed live as it was played and features some very excellent funky, soulful House music. Good Funk by name, good funk by nature!

Kyle Cross took himself to the very interestingly named Slut Garden for his set. Who knows what might go down there but one thing you can be sure of and that is that it sounds like one proper party. Kyle brings you a meaty selection of Electro, Bass infused Breakbeat in this one hour mix.

The Playa Surfers camp is where Genesis found herself for her live set. Assembling a set of funky and vocal Tech House Genesis must have got the Burners minds on fire with this one!

The second instalment from the Robot Heart camp comes from Dj Three. He took to the decks for his sunrise set and with the sublime Tech House on offer you can almost feel the sun creeping up on the horizon.

So there’s a large dose of Electronic based music for you all to delve into. From the sets posted it sounds like Burning Man is a party that needs to be seen to be believed.

Ahoy Kaptin! This Canadian holds nothing back with his remix of  Rudimental’s Waiting All Night offering some funky vibes for the end of summer. Starting off gently, it lures you in and pOW! Hits you with a curveball when the bass kicks in. Maintaining the vocal from the drum and bass original … it tells the true life-story of San Fran BMX champion and actor – Kurt Yaeger. He became an amputee after a trragic accident in 2006.
