Dubra x Arteo – The Funk Phenomenon EP (Disco Cakes)
The Latvian party rockers, DJ Dub:ra and Arteo, combine forces once again in spectacular style with their five track EP ‘The Funk Phenomenon’ out now on, Disco Cakes. Expect a very tasty platter of Hip Hop and Funk infused music!
Stepping out first, decked in the finest of funky robes is the title track of the EP ‘Funk Phenomenon’ which sets things off a treat for the rest of the EP with it’s extra funky horns on display. Next up is a re-fix of ‘Kill A Man’ by 90’s Hip Hop icons, Cypress Hill. This one’s for the dance floor brigade with with a huge amount of bass being applied. Justin Timberlake, finds himself all funked up as the guys get busy with his track ‘Sexy Back’ creating another dance floor heater. A rework of ‘I Need A Miracle’ by, Toca’s Miracle offers a slight rest-bite in the midst of all the heaviness. It still kicks, but just a touch gentler than the others. ‘Fat Ass Beat’ completes the EP with unsurprisingly, some fat ass beats to make those feet move one more time! With plenty more work in the pipeline from these guys, 2016 is looking like a hot one for them.

Hostage – Neptune
Taking a break from his pounding Techno sound, Hostage hits us up with something just as intense but this time in an atmospheric way with his new House tune, ‘Neptune’. The track itself echoes the conditions of the blue planet perfectly. The deepness of the track gives off a cool, hazy vibe with fierce stabs of bass comparable to the strong winds gusting in. Another incredibly solid piece of work from a producer who keeps on producing the goods time and time again!

Brain Damage – (Cosmic Selector & DJ Dutch Burning Eclipse Remix)
The San Francisco pairing of, Cosmic Selector and DJ Dutch, put their heads together last year to create a remix especially for their sets at the one and only, Burning Man. The track they chose to rework was the, Pink Floyd classic ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and what an amazing job they’ve done! Fixing it up with some Big Beat style broken beats, which always adds to the fatness, they also weave in a trippy, cosmic feel to the track, leaving you feeling like you are dancing on the bright side of the moon. Fine work indeed!
