It’s been just over a year since Shaka Loves You last sent our way their expertly assembled first volume of their ‘Disco Fury’ mix series. It’s been so long that the guys felt it was time for volume 2 and they’ve gone about this one with the same precision as the first by handpicking a truly inspired selection of music. ‘Disco Fury II’ has a huge 80’s vibe and the cosmic journey it takes you on will have transported to another dimension, where only good times exist. Epic stuff!

It’s time for another free download from Breakbeat Paradise‘s ‘Powerhour’ radio show and just the mere mention of that guarantee’s great music is on the way. ‘Great’ might just be doing a disservice to the latest freebie from the BBP camp because they have an exceptional new tune from, Morlack. His rework of The Bar-Kays 40 year old classic ‘Lets Have Some Fun’ is off the scale! It’s sounds fresh, alive and the amount of groove and Funk that’s been built in is unreal. You gotta get load of this!

If you’re a fan of House and Techno, the Yorkshire based duo, Black & Watky, are a couple of guys you need to get acquainted with. As well as running and DJing at their own night, Illicit Events, in Hull, the duo can also be found producing their own music which sees them draw on influences from Disco, Funk, Electro and Hip Hop.

For their latest tune, it’s a strictly Acid affair as they deliver their mind warping and cosmic Techno tune ‘Meteor’. It’s one of those tracks that’ll be best served up in the early hours of the morning and will guarantee that the ravers will be left in a sweaty mess and totally loving life. Lose your sh*t to one hell of of tune!

Barnaby James started out making Trance and EDM, but has somewhat come of age since the summer of 2015. His focus is now directed towards a more refined House sound with a bit of Bassline and Garage thrown in for good measure. He’s kept the dance floors of the North East of England busy for a while now and has found himself in a position where he’s been able to start up his own night called, Barajada.

From the music we’ve listened to of Barnaby’s, his night sounds like one that should definitely be checked out if you’re in that neck of the woods and if you do head there, you may well get chance to throw your shapes to his rework of Mylo‘s ‘Drop The Pressure’. It’s much more chunkier and tougher stance that Barnaby has applied and it’s best served through a sound system at full whack! Great stuff!

‘Clap Your Hands Now’ is the second collaboration of two mighty musical minds, Stickybuds and K+lab. The track is their take on The Meters ‘Hand Clapping Song’ and you’re gonna need to hold on to your hats, because this is coming at ya with some serious force! The perfectly sculpted midtempo beats are huge and they’re backed up by a biblical amount of bass, fruity sounding horns and if all that wasn’t already enough, you can expect to hear the incredible skills of Basement Freaks on guitar and an ultra smooth and soulful vocal from the very talented, Kwadi. This tune has got the lot and then some!

Buy ‘Clap Your Hands’ here from Bandcamp.

It’s fair to say that D-Funk had an absolute blast on his European tour last year. He played eight shows in five different countries which included Carl Cox‘s ‘Music is Revolution‘ at, Space Ibiza, Sideshow Kuts International Showcase at ADE (Amsterdam), his old hometown, Bournemouth, and he also made his debut in both Paris & Glasgow.

One of the tunes that got the party goers going crazy at every one of his nights is his rework of ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’ by, Jamie xx. D-Funk’s take on the original has seen him deliver his trademark fresh and funky sound with fat broken beats and bass to certify this one as an total banger!

You can also hear this track in D-Funk’s ‘Europe 2016 Tour Mix’. He’s put together just over an hours worth of tunes that he used to cause mayhem on several European dance floors. It not only features tracks from other artists who were rocking his world at the time, but it also features a large number of his own tracks that are currently unreleased. He felt this tour was the right time to give them a test run and reports indicate they all did the job in a big way. Great music all over the shop here folks so make sure you enjoy it all.

‘Body & Soul’ is the new mini album from French multi instrumentalist, musician and producer, Stephane Voituret a.k.a Leon, which has been released by the awesome, Timewarp Music. 7 amazing originals make up this new album and all are heavily laced with funk and Leon’s trademark cinematic sound that occupies every nook and cranny in your mind.

The first three tracks on the album ‘Body & Soul’, ‘The River’ and ‘Get On The Boat’ all have a huge Big Beat vibe about them and make great use of some superbly played electric guitar, which gives a rocky edge to the energetic funky beats and psychedelic touches. The next two tracks are the coolest on the album as ‘The Meeting’ shrouds itself in a cloak of mystery and elegance and ‘Friend’ has a slick and soulful feel. ‘Feelin’ Groovy’ picks up the pace and intensity just a touch with a much more funk led approach. ‘Sexy Toy’ completes the circle that is ‘Body & Soul’ with another healthy helping of rock infused funk and broken beats. Get set to have you attention fully used up once you indulge in ‘Body & Soul’.
