Stanton Warriors - The World Needs Bad Men [OUT NOW]

Open on Soundcloud

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months you will not have failed to notice the recent hype about Punks Music, label of the mighty Stanton Warriors. Mark and Dom have rounded up an elite force of highly skilled artists and they survive only as producers of fortune and if you have a problem, if know one else can help then maybe you should hire, the Bass team! And with this team assembled comes an incredible collection of Bass, Breaks and House filled EP’s, some already released and some that are bringing the excitement back to release dates!

The artists in question are as follows :

The Stanton Warriors themselves released their ‘ Bones ‘ EP a couple of months back now. A set of 4 tracks stripped to the bones and taking a less is more approach the duo bring you sounds orchestrated specifically for the club! If you’ve seen the Stanton Warriors play over the last few months then these tracks will be very familiar as they have been a mainstay in their sets which gives the the trusty stamp of ‘ Tried n Tested! ‘.

Also out now is an EP with a touch of Brazilian flair about it as Bomba Rosa drop their ‘ Birds ‘ EP on Punks Music. Mark and Dom received a demo from Bomba Rosa after hearing one of the Stantons podcasts. The guys liked the favela flavour of Bass served up and promptly got them on board. With these tracks to go by it’s going to be an exciting ride for Bomba Rosa, no doubt!

The first of the EP’s due to be released comes from long time fan of the Stantons, Mafia Kiss. Speaking to Mafia Kiss several years back he told me his goal and dream was to be signed by Mark and Dom and after a lot of hard work it all became reality! His EP ‘ It Began In Detroit ‘ is his debut on Punks Music. Here he brings a fine selection of Bass driven beats with the titled track ‘ It Began In Detroit ‘ and ‘ High ‘ being the more high energy tracks of the EP while ‘ Do It ‘ and ‘ Move My Soul ‘ featuring the smooth sounds of Alison Levi provide expert backup with their low slung, deep groove. A sublime collection of tracks form Mafia Kiss that will be released on the 4th December on Beatport. The Don of Bass is bang on his game!

Second up for future release is professional snowboarder, Nixon. Whilst he takes a break from carving up fresh powder Nixon likes nothing more than concocting the coolest, freshest beats. The 4 track EP contains elements of Hip Hop, Classic House, Drum n Bass and Jungle with a slight old skool feel about it and oodles of Bass, standard issue! The EP is due to released 8th December, again on Beatport. These tracks will give you the shiver, of joy and not because you fell over on the snow and it’s gone down the back of your neck! Top party sounds all round!

Due out 10th December is the 2 track EP from American duo Keith MacKenzie & Fixx. These guys are no strangers to the party scene, both seasoned pro’s and they know where it’s at when it comes to Bass music! Both of these tracks tick the deep, down and dirty box with ‘ Drummer Boy ‘ having a garage feel and ‘ 4 Ur Love ‘ bringing a far more deeper vibe to the Bass music sound.

If all that music wasn’t enough there is more to be found on Punks Music with tracks from Speak1200, Skapes and Pirate Jams who featured in an interview on LSM which you can read here. And if that wasn’t enough still there will be future releases from none other than Marten Horger and Evil Nine with anticipation reaching fever pitch for those we here at LSM join in with that excitement 100%!

The Stanton Warriors have a couple of gigs coming up. The first in Oxford at The Cellar, 29th November for Fresh Out The Box’s 10th birthday celebrations and then it’s up to Manchester for the legendary Lowdon n Dirty night at Sound Control. If you happen to be in the area or nearby or fancy a road trip and fancy a night of, well, it’s the Stantons, you know  it’s only gonna go off!

So as you can see by all of the news and music posted things are really kicking off over at Punks Music. We here at LSM look forward to what’s in store for the future!

There’s something about STANTON WARRIORS‘ brand of breakbeat that can’t be, er, beat. They’re ability to craft sonically booming, hyped-up, club-ready tunes while at the same time maintaining a stripped down, almost minimal sense of production is somewhat of a paradox. They consistently seem to get so much out thunderous 808 kicks and deep, penetrating basslines that it’s next to impossible to compare their output to anyone else in the breakbeat game. They’ve been doing this for such a long time too, and have always been the act to which breaks are measured by.

The Warriors’ latest EP continues the trend. Released on their own Punks Music imprint, here are four cuts that once again prove Mark and Dom’s well-earned place on the top of the broken beat and bass pedestal.
