It’s all going off in Leygo land right now! Dave Tyers aka Leygo is a dj producer from Nottingham. He fell in love with Big beat, Hip Hop and Funk when he was younger and now uses those influences in his music making today. He’s played alongside some big players in the music world playing warm up sets for the likes of which Mr Scruff, Plan B, Candi Staton and Craig Charles to name a few. He also runs two nights in Nottingham, a Funk night called ‘ Shake and Bake ‘ at Jamcafe and the other a Ghetto Funk, Hip Hop and Breaks night at Ride Bar called ‘ E.D.I.T ‘.

The track posted is part of his festival edits collection where you get not one, not two but seven, yes seven free tracks that he has used to ignite his festival sets throughout the summer!

Leygo is another super hard working producer which is clearly evident by the amount of quality music he posses on his Soundcloud page which of course you can get at HERE. There’s enough in there to keep you going for a few weeks so if you intend to get stuck in alert family and friends just so they know that you’ve not gone missing! One of THE Ghetto Funk soul brothers, Sammy Senior has just dropped his huge 2014 Promo mix. ‘ His ‘ being the operative word as he’s packed it full of his own monster tracks! Some of which are co-labs with the likes of Skeewiff, B-Side and WBBL, some are remixes of tracks by Morlack, DJ Chamber, Joshua Casper, AK Sediki and DJ Alias and some are previously unreleased tracks which Sammy is due to release in the near future. Word has it they will be going out for free to so keep your eyes peeled to LSM as we love a bit of Mr. Senior here!

If your liking the sounds Sammy Senior is bringing you here then you can catch him playing in London at The London Stone on the 31st October for a night called, Sin City. As I’m sure you’re aware, the date is Halloween weekend so if you decide to head there be sure to dig out your best fancy dress costumes as it’s a no costume / no entry policy for that night. Also on the bill you’ll have Pimpsoul, Dan Harder & Jack The Sax, Smoothshift and Cynic & Sage. All details for the night can be found HERE.

Exclusively mixed with love for the Ramp Shows blog.
ramp-shows.blogspot.com/search/label/…ky%20Mosquito

There are so many cool grooves out there. A lot of hip artists are still digging into the funk, soul, jazz & rare groove items. The grooves here are mainly instrumentals and with a slow beat around 100 bpm (downbeat).
So these grooves are to chill-out, to work with, listen in a background and in any case to enjoy.
These are not just cool grooves. These are the cool grooves ! So, if it's funk, groove, jazz, hip-hop...all these tracks are composed with a kind of easy rhythm, really cool instruments or sound pieces, cool bases and nice melodies. Some are knowned some not.

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is very proud to finally drop a full 4-track EP with one of our favorite producers in the funky breaks scene: Mr. Rory Hoy. Rory has strong roots in the sounds from the bigbeat era, but on the Funktopia EP he is showing a new side to him by dropping some more bass heavy ghetto funk type jams. To embrace this more club oriented sound he’s brought along some fellow ghetto funk producers such as the upcoming ghetto funk wonderboys: Phibes as well as a true legend in the funky breaks scene: Skeewiff. Finally he has teamed up with funk producer PulpFusion on the final cut on this EP.

Rory has been successful in reaching outside the nu funk scene to a wider audience and has even had tunes getting picked up by Disney and has featured on British and American TV several times and his tunes are played on some American TV Shows and in stores like Macy’s and on internal Airlines. Rory have had 5 albums released on Freddy Fresh’s Howlin’ Records label and has had support from people like Fatboy Slim and Mr. Scruff. Rory has been bringing his funky sounds all over Europe including doing an opening act at the Official Tour De France Fan Park in Harrogate. Rory approach to music being in a fun and vibrate form seems to have a broad appeal across the board and here at BBP we have been loving what he does from the get-go.

So get ready to get your boogie on, cuz this release is all about having fun and getting down to the funk grooves.

A. The EP kicks off with the bass heavy Ass Shakers Song, which shows the ghetto funk style that Rory has adapted on this particular release. This jam has everything we love here at BBP: from the oldskool funky breaks to the crisp ghetto funk basslines – all beautifully arranged for dancefloor destruction.

B. Phibes follows up with their remix of the Ass Shakers Song by capturing the essense of the samples from the original track and adding some of their signature ghetto funk beats and wobble basslines. This remix is a sure shot for any funky dj and it will blend in perfectly in any ghetto funk DJ-set.

C. On the flip side we see legendary funky breaks producer Skeewiff picking up samples from one of Rory’s album tunes and turning it into a disco inferno. Classic funky breaks at it’s best.

D. Finally Rory teams up with PulpFusion to drop a bigbeat inspired jam to set things in perspective as the EP is running out. Look out for PulpFusion’s upcoming Funk Never Sleeps 12” vinyl – which also includes a remix by Rory Hoy – coming soon on BBP.

Reviews:
“After a series of house flavoured releases, Rory Hoy flips the vibe back to the beats and bass he first made his name with. “Ass Shakers Song” lives up to its name in every possible way; bold bass grit, hype rap chants and a dramatic breakdown, if your floor aren’t shaking their jacksies when you drop this you haven’t played it properly. Dig deeper to find the straight-up acid attack “Get This Thing Started” and two premium remixes: a nu-funk glitch-ridden rub from Phibes and a disco funk flavoured remix of “Party On This Side” by Skeewiff. Funktopia indeed!”
/Juno Download

BAM (a.k.a. Afrika Baby Bam) of the legendary ‘90s hip-hop group ‘THE JUNGLE BROTHERS’ and Austrian

DJ and producer MR.DERO team up to take the positive hip hop vibes of the Native Tongues Era to 2014.

First comes „THIS“, then comes „THAT“, then finally the album „THIS & THAT“. Legendary Jungle Brothers MC Bam and Austrian producer Mr.Dero joined forces on their EP/LP trilogy: Rump-shaking grooves, a little bit of reggae and Bam’s laid-back rap performance bring a breath of fresh air to a rap scene that’s increasingly bored of monotonuos trap productions.

As one might remember: Hip hop started out at a party. Fat beats for the summer and raps that are not all about bragging, but turning the party out – that’s the flavour Bam & Mr.Dero go for on their collabo trilogy „THIS & THAT“.

Both of them know perfectly well what they’re doing: Austrian hip hop enthusiast Mr.Dero has been spinning, producing and organizing club nights for seventeen years now and knows what’s moving urban dancefloors. And Bam (aka Afrika Baby Bam)? He’s nothing short of a living legend. As a part of New York rap crew The Jungle Brothers he helped creating a movement that still has an impact on hip hop culture today: the Native Tongues. Together with fellow artists A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Queen Latifah the JBeez started a positive, good-humored, yet consciuos counter movement against all those grimey looking, gold chain wearing bad boy rappers that still influences young artists today. On top of that Bam and the Jbeez took a chance at a musical crossover that’s been unheard of in those days: With their track „I’ll House You“ they combined hip hop and house music and created a style that still resonates in contemporary EDM: hip house.

In their transatlantic collabo project Bam & Mr.Dero picked up that thread and produced tracks that are as dope as danceable. Since they met and became friends at one of Dero’s club nights they’ve been working together to bring back that positive vibe from the Native Tongue era in a very original fashion. Catchy production with a heavy bass, soulful grooves, feelgood vibes and Bam, who’s definitely having fun in the booth – that’s „THIS“, their first EP.

Already the first single „On & On“, a feelgood block party anthem aiming directly at the dance floor, had a heavy impact in the blogosphere. „Work That“, the video single with its driving disco groove, reminisces the late 70’s, „Take My Heart“ mixes up funk, reggae and hip hop to create a real summer hit. Based on a classic b-boy breakbeat, „The Weekend“ comes with jamaican off-beats skanks, while „Yes You Can“ combines dub’ish sounds and a classic shout-and-response call. And „Dance“ sounds exactly as it’s named, an uptempo track aimed at the dance floor.

Where there is a „THIS“, there should also be a „THAT“, and so this first EP is only the beginning of a series of releases to come. The follow-up EP „THAT“ will be released in february next year, directly succeeded by the full-length and bonus-stuffed album „THIS & THAT“. The whole series of releases is accompanied by a caringly executed visual campaign that’s not only another record cover artwork, but a piece of art by itself.

Bam & Mr.Dero know perfectly well what they are doing. And on top of that, they love what they do. You can see, hear and feel that. And the world’s dance floors will prove them right.

Release Date: 19.09.2014

Label:              Tiefparterre Records
