Out now on Westwood Recordings

OUT NOW on BEATPORT:
http://www.beatport.com/release/shock-rollin-feat-see-i/1329260

Westwood is proud to present another international collaboration between Canadian powerhouses, The Funk Hunters, and Germany’s finest funk duo, CMC&Silenta. This time enlisting the vocal talents of world renowned reggae-soul crusaders See-I, “Shock Rollin” is a 110bpm mid tempo party delivering the best of glitch, funk, bass, and that signature See-I sound. See-I (aka Rootz & Zeebo of Thievery Corporation fame) deliver electric rasta-inspired vocals over tightly produced bass drops and the catchiest of soulful hooks over a juicy funky breaks section. Also included is a hard hitting instrumental mix that easily stands on its own as yet another successful collab marrying The Funk Hunters gritty bass with CMC & Silenta’s catchy synth hooks.

Ghetto Funk Multiple Choice Exam

Q1. Finger Lickin’ Records co-founder Jem Stone is responsible for releasing

 A) Gas

B) All the bees

C) The ‘Skullcracker’ from prison

D) Filthy sexy beats that pop and fizzle and generate ear spitting grins of euphoria.

Q2. Left unattended Featurecast will:

A) Excite airport security

B) Get arrested

C) Accidentally become a Peruvian sex icon

D) Properly blow shit up and get all the the ladies pregnant just via his potent DJ sex musk

If you answered D to all the above then do we have an EP for you! Jem produces another V for Vienetta swing-tastic dance floor smasher-upper, with Mouthmaster Murf and MC Goldseal  from The Anomalies delivering the machine gun rap attack. Featurecast does his own very special thing, musically puttting on the leather face mask and covering himself in tank track grease and filthy’s the whole place up – no one does it dirtier (except for his arch nemesis; Future Cast – that guy is mental Cray!)

Like us, both versions come with dub remixes. Top of the class!

Out on now Beatport : http://www.beatport.com/release/out-of-our-minds/1320086

Imagine bass music, with an analogue soul, coming straight from the motherland of electro. Sound good? Well, that’s Marten Hørger. Combined with Brisbane’s own Sangers & Ra’s big bass sound, Stav from Bluejuice’s infectious vocals, they’ve created an acid tech bass hit ‘Out Of Our Minds’.

Marten Hørger has been publicly hailed as the bonified hero of the Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts & “the man to watch” by DJ Icey. These praises have been realised with official remixes for the superstar acts, and winning Best Track & Best Producer at the 2014 International Breakspoll Awards. Hørger kickstarted his career at the age of 15 & over the years has developed his unique and aptly titled “I don’t give a fuck” blend of Breaks, Electro, Dubstep & Hip Hop. With international tours, billings at festivals like KaZantip & Notting Hill Carnival, releases on Ministry of Sound & collaborations with Leeroy Thornhill (of The Prodigy), 2014 is set to be another huge year!

Sangers & Ra exploded onto the international dance music scene having released a Top 10 Beatport anthem as their debut single. They’ve travelled the globe playing at festivals like KaZantip, Snowbombing, Parklife, Future Music and Stereosonic, host their own radio show Big Bass Party on Radio Metro as well as deliver an iTunes podcast of the show. Having previously worked with the likes of ARIA award winner, N’Fa Jones (1200 Techniques), it seems about time for the pair to collaborate with another Australian artist in Stav & one of their heroes, Marten Hørger, creating a contemporary bass hit in the process!

Exclusively available on Beatport from 30th June, 2014

Happy summer everyone! The suns out in the UK so it’s time to come through with another selection of fresh swinging beats.

The big news here is that I’ve moved into a new house – Swing Towers 2 – which is perfect in every respect except it’s going to take 30 days for the truly rubbish broadband provider to bother to get it turned on. That means this Roundup may be a bit briefer than usual since it’s not easy doing this all through a mobile!

Free Music Dimaa mixing up the glitch and swing. Download from here.

Bouncy house with a bit of a swing style bump from Tomahawk:

And again…

Bass heavy remix of Bart & Baker:

All sorts of flavours mixing together on this from Cheshire. Quality freebie.

More considered and laid back this. Nice old style swing from Leeds After Hours Quintet:

FOR THE REST OF THIS POST CLICK READ MORE!!!

This is quirky and fun. Solo Moderna offering up six different remixes of their track Hoop E Kack including one from Sound Nomaden. Get it on a name your own price basis from here.

Fancy a nice little mashup of Parov Stelar and I Heard It Through The Grapevine courtesy of Annie O? These two fit together really well and it’s well worth the effort. Soundcloud won’t let it on so go here to listen and to Annie O‘s site for the download link.

Nice bit of squelch from Swing-Thru:

Talking of squelch here’s some serious bass action being added to the Mr Scruff classic:

Rather nice of John Lee Hooker to step up and provide the vocal for this house groover:

Like this. Good stuff from Mista Trick and the Pocket Belles.

Good mashup work from Eclectic Mick:

New Releases Electro Swing Elite – Compilation 2014 This has to be the biggest release of the month with the Electro Swing Elite pulling together a range of quality tracks for their first proper release. It’s available from beatport and here’s the megamix of the whole compilation:

Lamuzgueule – Bada Boom Boom Swing Lamuzgueule are a live french electro swing band who mix swing, balkan and electro beats with narative and ironic french lyrics. Their songs are bubbly and completely in the electro-swing “retro-actual” style, with saxophone, vocals and guitar trio playing old melodies with electronic beats. This is their second album which has just come out.

Swingrowers – Do Not Cover EP Nick Hollywood has freshly squeezed some more juice out of the Swingrowers with this nice little EP of covers. Available from Juno.

Mat Tha Hat – The Charleston Whomp EP Mat Tha Hat has come through with some quality glitch n swing on the mighty Adapted Records. You can get it from Beatport and here’s the promo mix:

Mouthful O’ Jam – Killer Dealer This has just come out from Green Queen Music with two remixes by The C@ In The H@ and Annie O:

If you like the electro blues feel check this out from Defunk – out on July 8th.

Also forthcoming is this slick piece of vintage fun from Jamie Berry. Out on FLAK records on July 11th.

DJ Mixes A tidy little mix here from Kiss Me Yesterdays tour DJ Bastard Bastoni:

That’s it. See you in a month! If you’ve got anything you’d like included in future roundups hit me up on soundcloud.
