This week in The Armory, we’re thrilled to welcome a man who is a true breaker in every sense of the word. In his hometown of Miami, FL they call him “Bebe” and he is both a 6-time world champion break dancer and a fantastic breaks DJ/producer. Press play. Get down.

Bebe is a 6x World Champion B-boy and began his career in Breaks in 1994 as the founding member of Ground Zero Crew (Miami’s World famous B-Boy Crew). Dancing to Electro, Florida Breaks, and Freestyle early on as a B-Boy, blessed Bebe with an ear for body rocking bass.

Applying the same passion for Breaking into DJing was a natural progression, since 06 Bebe has been dropping serious basslines. He has rocked at events such as Burning Man, In Beat We Trust, Future Sound Of Breaks,Earth Dance, 9 Mile Music Festival, and has shared stages with the likes of DJ Icey, Stanton Warriors, FreQ Nasty, Baby Anne, Deekline, Freestylers, Lady Waks, Mutant Breakz, and many more.He has played in countries such as Puerto Rico, Russia, Brazil, and Japan.

His first release on Beatport a collaboration with Agent K (Digital Records) hit 17 in the charts in just one week. In addition to spinning on his head and on the decks , Bebe has become a super promoter producing several of his own independent brand of events all over the World. His popular events series Breaks Yo! happen monthly in Miami. In 2016 Bebe launches forward with his production releasing on his own Breaks Yo! label.

If you have not seen Bebe Live prepare your self for serious breakdowns and high energy bass that will keep your body grooving like no other!

If you’ve caught a post of ours featuring music from SanFranDisko before, you’re probably expecting another dose of delicious Disco from one of his superb edits. Not this time though because the editing business that’s going down is strictly all about Acid House vibes that are being applied to the 80’s hit ‘Heat It Up’ by, The Wee Papa Girl Rappers. It’s old skool that’s so cool!

Hit the trolley icon and it’ll be yours instantly.

It doesn’t matter if they’re making Funky Breaks, Drum n Bass or in this case Electro Swing, one thing you can always rely on Phibes to do is deliver music that kicks like a mule! Their fat, bassy and swing-tastic track ‘Virgina Swing’ is one of those very heavy hitters and has been released by the UK based label, Freshly Squeezed, as they rejoice in passing 3 million plays on their Soundcloud page. Quite a landmark that and what a tune to choose to help along those celebrations. Why not join in…

The corks are popping in the Data Transmission office as they justly celebrate the 500th edition of their mix series and what a mix they have lined up for us all. They’ve invited along, none other than, Roni Size in for a guestmix and he duly obliged by laying down just under 4 hours worth of Drum n Bass. The mix explores all corners of the genre, from soulful liquid rollers right up to the big room, hard hitting bangers. It’s a mix that’s every bit as good as you thought it was gonna be when it caught your eye.

It’s no surprise that DJ Hybrid hits the Serial Killaz camp with a massive EP full of jungle and mid 90’s influences. ‘Too Deep’ is a monstrous bag of 5 (yes 5!) hard hitting, breakbeat infused riddims, each with their own throwback to different events in drum and bass’ history.

This is certainly one EP not to miss - period.

For those thinking “you can’t do mid 90’s using digital hardware”..

It’s time to change your mindset.

‘Give You More’ wouldn’t be of any surprise if it was dropped at AWOL in 1994. It’s as if Hybrid has literally rewound time, given it a fresh lick of primer and layered up the final coat with an array of mashed up breakbeats lashed with BIG growling sub bass.

Moving swiftly on to ‘Big Respect’, certainly something due to many of the original foundation of the jungle scene and without a doubt played out well on this heavyweight track. Infused reggae influences combined with dub effects that will no doubt remind you of the old effects machine at Telepathy it’s a sure fire hit aimed at the young, the old and everyone in between.

‘Regrets’ provides the thought of moody atmosphere, smoke machines pillowing out tons of dry ice, lazers licking the heads of ravers through a sweat haze and slow motion dance moves. It’s a guaranteed head nodder whether you’re a side to side or up and down kind of mover - either way, you are going to feel this tune one way or another.

Stopping briefly as the EP’s title track ‘In Too Deep’ takes a stance with its cinematic introduction, brief female vocal samples and then.... Silence. Pause for second before the rollercoaster bass and breaks take you on a musical journey.

Memories of Dreamscape 15 V 16 or United Dance will potentially come flooding back to those in regular attendance at either The Sanctuary or Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre with just one play of ‘Moving On’. It’s as if this tune has nailed the atmosphere and production style of these eras all in one go. Think DJ Red meets DJ Seduction.

All in all this is another tough EP from the Serial Killaz camp, 100% quality with not a single filler or weak tune.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is another attempt at remaking jungle either, this EP is fresh as the morning sun at 6am when you’re being ejected from a venue whilst 100’s of flyers are being stuffed in your hands.
