Low Steppa – Free Edits – Tensnake / Bizarre Inc
As well as keeping himself busy with his incredibly popular label Simma Black all year, Birmingham based, Low Steppa, has still found time to release a whole stack of original and reworked music of his own. Several of his reworked tunes have come in the shape of edits of some all to familiar dance classics and these two posted here slip into that category perfectly.
First up is his extra solid edit of ‘Playin With Knives’ by, Bizarre Inc, that’s an absolute brute and packs a real hit on the bass front. His edit of Tensnake‘s take on ‘Coma Cat’ has a much more darker feel with a deep funky groove to it, while still kickin’ pretty hard. This pair will get those New Years parties bouncin’, no doubt about it!

Yoshitoshi: Best of 2016
Pre-Order Here out 30/12/16
Yoshitoshi present 17 tracks and a continuous mix featuring some incredible House & Techno from the likes of Sharam, Anthony Attalla, Sinisa Tamamovic plus more. The Best of 2016
Sharam features with a number of tracks on Yoshitoshi: Best of 2016. Tracks such as the atmospheric 80’s influenced House music of ‘Arpi’, the off the wall Tech House of ‘Techi’, and dark robotics of ‘Octodub’
On an album full of high-class material (and a prestige label for those who know, think Alcatraz & Eddie Amador circa mid 90s), it’s tricky picking out just a few tracks to mention. Each of the 17 tracks here are a must. We particularly love Andy Caldwell & Adam Johan’s ‘Hold You’, a throwback to the frantic diva vox of 90’s glam house set to wall liquifying synths and beats.
Anthony Atalla ‘F1′ is another personal pick of ours from this fantastic retrospective. We love the snappy beats and catchy hooks and refrains reminding us of the likes of Apollo 84
The album progresses nicely from Deep/Tech House gems aplenty to out and out hip grinding bass loaded Techno bangers. If for any reason you missed these quality tracks up until now, here they are in one deadly good package, no more excuses!!! Pick this up right now!!

Whitedrives – Deepest Joy

Whitedrives put a unique Eastern twist on the Deep House sound with ‘Deepest Joy’ on Census Sound Recordings
Londoners, DJ Wadcutter & Martin James a.k.a Whitedrives draw on a wealth of influences going all the way back to the early 90s warehouse rave scene for the percussion-filled beats and elated vocal snatches of ‘Deepest Joy’
Ettica chunk up the original into a smouldering slice of gritty, underground Tech House. Census Sound owner, Alan Cross draws influence from the gunshots and booming basslines of 90’s Speed Garage for an upfront and unabashed straight up banger of a remix!!! Variety is the spice of life and Census Sound show their diversity as a label once again with a striking and refined release.

Advent Day 2016 #20 – Bernhardt – Oil *LSM Exclusive*
If you caught our 2 previous Bernhardt posts, you would have read that his identity was being kept under wraps. That is the case no longer though as we can announce now that it is the new alias of the bearded Techno warrior, Hostage. His new alias of course, comes with a new sound and is one that is geared more towards creating more heat for the dance floor for the partygoers to really feed off. Bernhardt is set to hit it hard in 2017 so keep your eyes open, as this modified Techno warrior may be heading to your neck of the woods for a serious party!
Being a fairly recent convert to Techno and because I’ve been liking what I’ve been hearing from the Bernhardt side of things, I had to send out an invite for our advent calendar and as you can see, the answer was a resounding, yes! ‘Oil’ is the track that’s been kindly sent our way and it’s got the LSM HQ literally rocking! It’s hard as nails yet totally hypnotic at the same time and will most definitely create a moment of euphoric pleasure when encountered on a dance floor. If your bells start jingling, there’s a very good chance someone nearby has got this one maxed out!
As you’ll see below, there’s new Bernhardt mix out too which can only be seen as an added bonus! Sample more of his ground shattering tracks in that mix and then hit the links to find even more.

Brett Gould – Rise Up
Buy This EP Here
Brett Gould wants us to ‘Rise Up; and check out his new EP for Lapsus Music, we comply!!!
We start with the eerie skank of ‘What Does That Mean’, intense sparkling chords with weightless snarling stabs, manipulated white noise and the inquisitive refrain ‘What Does That Mean?’
Next up in line to jack to is the title track, a peak time tribal stomper with a fist pumping aura-inducing vocal and melodic Blade Runner esque keys
Track No 3 on this excellent EP is our definite fave. An expertly constructed minimal stepper with something we love here at the blog, classic rave diva vox set to a busy backdrop of bleeps, bumps and beats.
Considering the exceptional quality of this great trio of tracks, we’re certain Brett Gould will continue to ‘Rise Up’ in 2017!!!
