The Beat-Pimp – Pimpology 15 For LSM
It’s been just over a month since we last heard from our resident fat beat selector, The Beat-Pimp. His last exclusive mix for us, volume 14 of his ‘Pimpology’ series, was pitched just perfect to fend off post Christmas blues with a superb selection of chilled funky Hip Hop. For volume 15 though, he’s back smashin’ it hard with his 40 minute mix that’s fuelled by Glitch Hop and of course, Funk. His last 3 mixes for us have been enjoyed by plenty of people and we’re sure his new one will have them all hitting the play button once again. Buckle up folks, The Beat-Pimp is in town!

HNQO – White Stripe EP
Buy Here
HNQO brings a South American style to the Techno sound with the ‘White Stripe EP’ on Playperview. The title track is drenched in the sun and dusty streets of Sau Paulo and Rio De Janeiro, a mellow ride that tantalises and delights in equal measure. ‘The Clapper’ is darker, more surreal and unsettling as if migrating from Brazil to Detroit. Two contrasting cuts for the connoisseurs and dance floor freaks alike!!

Sevarge & 24K-Hold You
Buy Here
Sevarge makes the transition from veteran DJ to producer, teaming up with 24K for debut release ‘Hold You’ on Hedonistic Records. Its big room Techno with a melodic hook and oldskool credentials all the way here and we can’t get enough. The main drop is made for the lasers, a heated cauldron of atmospheric synths with the ‘wanna hold you’ vocal refrain and subtle Euro/Scottish Rave/Techno stabs. This epic stomp hits all the right buttons but you would expect that with the experience and passion shared by this duo. We know there is much more to come from Sevarge and this first foray into the world of house music production is a bold statement that justifiably carries itself with pride. We look forward to what comes next!!!

Drumattic Twins – Mighty Breaks Promo Mix 2007
Lanx and Nick Slater, aka the Drumattic Twins, have been a leading force in dance music since they first began touring over 20 years ago. Making their name as Shades of Rhythm, they ruled the early nineties rave scene with legendary anthems ‘Sweet Sensation’, ‘Sound of Eden’, ‘Extacy’ and ‘Homicide’ and performed with the likes of The Prodigy and N-Joi.
Since rebranding themselves as the Drumattic Twins in 1997, Nick and Lanx quickly replicated this global notoriety thanks to massive hit tracks ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ ‘Twister’ and ‘HyperSpeed’. They teamed up with the legendary release platform Finger Lickin Records in 1999 and settled quickly into the close-knit world of the breakbeat scene, working alongside global acts such as Plump DJs, Soul of Man and Lee Coombs.
From a string of releases from 1999 starting with top the selling “Feeling Kinda Strange” till late 2013 with their “Get Up and Dance EP” on Sugarbeat Records and 2 full length albums in between the Drumattic Twins have laid down a variety of music that have influenced the Breaks Scene and shaped it in to what it is today.
This mix was an exclusive promo for Mighty Breaks, a club in San Francisco that promoted Breaks at that time.

Census Sessions Podcast – Episode 3 – Tom Clyde
Census Sound Recordings continue to blow our minds with each and every one of their releases and now they’ve got a podcast going, the mind blowing action now goes on for even longer and that’s never a bad thing in our book. For episode 3, they’ve invited Russian producer, Tom Clyde, in for the guestmix. Tom has been hailed as one of the most promising Breaks and Tech Funk producers in Russia and since starting out in 2005, he’s had music released on LOT49, VIM Records, Diablo Loco, KindCrime Recordings, RUNE Recordings and Kick It Recordings.
It’s his time to shine on Census now though and that he is doing big time with his podcast mix that sees him venture into the darker side of Techno. It’s a heart racing roller coaster ride of epic breakdowns, huge drops and driving beats and bass that are so intoxicating! For those of you who like music with plenty of meat on the bone, you really need to get to know Tom Clyde and Census Sound Recordings.
The timing of posting this mix has worked well as it coincides with the release of Tom’s imminent 2 track EP. It contains huge amounts of the tough and edgy Breaks and Tech Funk sound mentioned above and if you’re loving his mix, you’ll love these two tracks just as much.
