Arteo – You’ll Never Know
It’s been quite a while since we’ve brought you music from Arteo on his own. We’ve featured him before dropping some Funk heavy, bass filled tunes with his good buddy Dub:ra, but with his solo tune ‘You’ll Never Know’, Arteo is serving up a suave, smooth and sophisticated slice of Funky Breaks. We must simply doth our caps to this fine fellow’s work and head for a merry jaunt on a floor for dancing at once! See you there…

Upswing Project – Raw Grooves EP
Love classic rolling US style Garage? Well, you’re gonna love this EP by Upswing Project on Hustler Trax. We’re not talking dusty vinyls from the 90s here (not that there’s anything wrong with them!). No, we’re talking about 4 chilled, melodic, and soulful grooves lovingly crafted in the 92-96 era Garage sound.
In fact, Upswing Project is an alias for the talented House music/aficionado, Alex Agore. Alex spoils us here with some purist dubby Garage rhythms that will bring a huge smile to your face
Our Favourite Track:
‘Raw Groove Four’, A nice chunky Garage tune that would fit perfectly in a Karl ‘Tuff Enuf’ brown DJ set

Strictly NuSkool Blog’s Glowkid At Old Skool Festival 2016 (Interview)
Our good friend Glowkid DJ’ed at This year’s Old Skool Festival in Lodz, Poland. You can read the interview where he talks about the event and some of his favourite tunes and artist right now over at Strictly NuSkool Blog.
A few highlights from the interview:
Favourite Event:
Definitely that was Old Skool Festival 2016. None of us can ever forget our first gig or any other big gig that you are involved with in the past, but I’d say without any second thought that Old Skool Festival is my biggest gig and booking at the moment till the next bigger thing of course!
Favourite Oldskool Artists:
Hard to say but I’d pick without any particular order, Luna-C (crazy ideas, innovative stylee), Altern-8 (apart from the EPs & remixes they were kinda Sex Pistols in the scene. One and only official album release but their “Full on Mask Hysteria” is still a Bible to us all and showed the way to the others) and finally Moby (nothing can beat his 1990 – mid 90’s oldskool techno stuff. Genius of an artist by all means!)
Favourite Oldskool Tunes:
“Rachel Wallace – Tell Me Why”
“Jimmy J & Cru-L-T – Six Days On The Run”
“Westbam – Celebration Generation”
Current Favourite Hardcore/NuSkool Breaks Tracks:
“Paul Cronin – Kim K‘ Boobs Out [RAVESKOOL]”
“DJCRIP – Rock Me Steady”
“Insane & Mind – Open Up Your Heart [HOH]”

RIDO Rhythm Of Life LP [Blackout]
Buy This LP
Blackout continue their global search for the next “everyman” DnB producer and in Rido they’ve found an absolute gem. Friction has picked up on “Fade Away”, battering it on his BBC Radio 1 show, and many other DnB luminaries are jumping on
the Rido train for good reason.
Having cut his teeth on a number of high-profile labels such as Subtitles, Viper, Hospital and Metalheadz to name a few, Rido’s stock is set to rise stratospherically with this well-constructed and honestly- conceived long player, “Rhythm Of Life”.
The origin of the word Rido comes from clan conflict in the Philippines, and whether or not that was the inspiration behind the moniker, the sentiment is strong and true across this debut album offering. Packed full of tough beats and scintillating basslines punctuated with vocal excerpts is a delight for and assault on the senses in equal measure.
Reflective, personal, intelligent – these are all words we can easily associate with the Czech DJ as he effortlessly zips from one high-octane dance floor killer to another. Whether it’s the rave-inspired, euphoric sound of “Thursday Funk” or the straight up and down toughness of “Movin”, there’s a little something for everyone inside

Stripped – A Tribute to Depeche Mode (FREE CD)
A follower since i heard the delightfully dark ’Ultra’ back in 1997 … the Depehce Mode mixtape is something that has been done before, but here it is, my way. The first half is dedicated to the stage and the second half, the nightclub, praising their many remixes. Preparation saw me go back though their 13 studio albums and many compilations.
With hundreds of tracks to choose from, where would i begin! I started looking for clusters or tracks that worked well and slowly began putting pieces together. I became fully immersed in the Mode! Some tunes you will know, other’s probably not so much … and don’t worry if your favourite is not in there … there’s sure to be a part 2 Happy Enjoy folks. I hope you like listening as much as i did putting it together.

Beat Assassins - War Dem ft Miss Stylie
War Dem ft Miss Stylie isn't a grime track. But then it's not 100% drum n bass either. Some might say War Dem is; 174bpm grime n bass. Jimmy from Beat Assassins likes to think of the track as a fusion of styles.
The track started out as a drum n bass tune but as production went along Jimmy started cutting out some of the breaks while giving the bassline more of a grime edge. Then he brought in some of his influences from the breakbeat days while deciding this track needs an exceptionally talented hip-hop vocal.
And what about that vocal? War Dem wouldn't be the powerhouse grime n bass tune that it is without Miss Stylie's upfront vocal delivery. How did the collaboration come about?
"It's the power of Twitter!" Explains Jimmy. "I was on the bus with #drumnbass on my twitter feed when Miss Stylie popped up. "PM me for bars & rhymes" she wrote. So I checked out her soundcloud page and immediately knew this was the artist I had been looking for. So I struck up a deal with her management company and the rest is history."
War Dem definitely fits the bill for any bass music, slash, drum n bass DJ looking to push the boundaries of the 174bpm. However Jimmy knew that the chorus to War Dem would sound epic over a neuro-style drum n bass banger. So Beat Assassins turned to rising dnb star Trei; who delivered what can only be described as a stadium drum n bass explosion.
