Riuozami – Geometric Shapes EP

Riuozami returns to Napoli, Italy imprint Urban Distortion with two tracks of mind-bending Ambient Techno.
The Geometric Shapes EP, supported by luminaries the likes of Colin Dale features two tracks, ‘Geometric Modernism’ and ‘Shape 1′
‘Geometric Modernism’ floats in a dark disembodied way with clever layers of sound. Slaker’s Vision Mix takes things into dance floor territory adding a 4×4 kick bringing out the deep techno side of the original.
‘Shape 1′ goes for a sinister excursion into electro with menacing 303s circle the beats like sharks in a tank. Dario Caruson adds eerie aesthetics with a chilling almost Horror esque remix.
‘Geometric Shapes’ stands for another sophisticated release on Urban Distortion once again pushing the boundaries of Techno & Electronica with strong artistic values and polished production. You can buy the EP now from all good download stores. Check out Urban Distortion’s Facebook page for more info.

Even when the UK weather lets you down, you can always bring some sunshine to your stereo.
This month has been a difficult pick due to all the great edits that have been released. Since we are heading into the depths of summer I thought it only fitting that we go for some great up beat and soulful tracks for the list.
The pick of the bunch for me this time around is the immensely talented Dave Allison’s rework of the Brooklyn Bronx & Queen’s band’s ‘Dreamer’. All hail the man from Montreal. You can also grab this on a free download as he celebrates over 1.5 million plays on Soundcloud.
Even though I have picked one form the bunch as stand out, I really have to say each and every track in the list is brilliant – again, showing the talent that oozes form the edit scene.

2. Gayle Adams // Love Fever (Drive Club Edit)
3. Infinity // Check Me Out (RaRiTiEs Edit)

5. Johnny Guitar Watson // You’ve Got A Hard Head (Ronny Hammond Break A Leg Edit)

VA-Total Amenation (Jungle)

Switchblade Digital unleashes a second compilation this time focusing on the faster tempo Jungle sound. Like it dark and hard? You’ll need an iron gut for these badboys. They’re so dark they might just drag you in an alley and remove your kidneys!!!
The darkest offerings come from the likes of label boss Abyss, Beat Rapist, Breakbeat Scientist, KeeZee, Liam T & Master Mash who channel the Horrorcore/Darkcore sound with a series of ruthless amen excursions.
The likes of Beatgem, CoCo Bryce, Krave, Deadly Nightshade & Johnny Too Bad delve into the vaults of 1994 with stunningly authentic takes on the original jungle sound. So much so you can almost smell the vinyl
CLSM drops in with some punchy DnB while Rad Rod, Msymiakos & Lucky Dime interject some great experimentation into the mix
Highlights on this excellent album include the faithful late 90’s Techstep of Necrotype ‘Flashes’, the intense raving amens of Pursuit ‘Feel Alright’, Lucky Dime’s Gangsta Rap sampling 303 acid jungle hybrid ‘FTP 303′ and the twisted sounds of Coco Bryce’s ‘Class Action’
While we make mention of a few highlights trust us when we say this compilation is all killer and absolutely no filler. Each one of the 20 featured artists on ‘Total Amenation’ hit the spot with great tunes. Switchblade Digital strikes junglistic gold once again.
