Beat-Breaker has built up a following with carefully curated and mixed DnB, Breaks, 140/Future Jungle DJ sets plus other genres. These sets often feature unique mashups and original productions.

Today, Beat-Breaker shares an 11 track compilation of remixes, mashups and personal productions that cover all bases. We get a variety of styles from Glitch-Hop to Breaks through to 140 Jungle & Drum & Bass. We also get some cool remixes of tracks by Marten Hørger, Kissy Sell Out, Left/Right & Refracture, Mafia Kiss, Exit Point & Fifteen ‘0’ Eight.

This is the kind of release that resonates with the roots and beginnings of Free Breaks Blog. Although we cover a multitude of genres these days, we still love our underground breaks and there’s plenty of that here plus some quality DnB too. We envisage a very big 2017 for the man known as Beat-Breaker!!!!

Greenkeys – Still Alive EP

Dropping in with part 2 of advent day #23 is a couple of ladies that have lit up my mind on numerous occasions this year with the music they’ve been making, Black Girl / White Girl. Whether they’re ramping up the energy levels with their Tech House sound, or twisting peoples minds with some Techno, these two ladies always deliver the goods and do so at a high rate with ‘quality’ stamped all over everything they do.

As well as making incredible music, they both know how to rock a crowd and how to assemble a mix to get the blood pumping! Their exclusive mix they’ve done for us features all that high energy Tech House goodness you need to make your Christmas party one to remember. Both Fifties and myself are huge fans of the producer and label owner behind today’s first piece of music on advent day #23 and that man is, Alan Cross. As well as running the always amazing, Census Sound Recordings, you can also find him producing music of his own and chipping in with the odd remix on Census releases. Whether it’s House or Breaks, Alan’s sound has a real techy vibe about it which gives it a fuzzy, warm and mind opening feel. All that can be found in his exclusive tune for us ‘Babylon On Fire’, which is a truly breathtaking piece of Breakbeat and one we’re sure will leave you opened mouthed and in awe of what you’ve just heard. Brilliant stuff!

We’ve got a full on Acid House fest for advent day #22. It comes from Manchester’s, Red Oktober, aka, Craig Whittaker and his mix that’s a live recording of his set from the mighty Fortress stage at the very awesome Beat Herder festival this summer. Craig has always had a huge passion for Acid flavoured music and it’s clear that he knows his stuff if you go by the selection of tracks he handpicked to twist the minds of the festival goers who were there to witness this live. We’re sure that they would have been dancing there socks off and now it’s your turn to get involved in your own tripped out journey which is gonna be epic!

Supernova get us warmed up for 2017 with a brand new EP on Lapsus Music. First up is a vibin’ Disco/Funky/Tech stomper called ‘The Reef’. Things get ravey for the title track with cool 90s ‘Handbag House’ style keys and the looped ‘Bass’ refrain.

‘Up To Venus’ builds to a frenetic crescendo of uptempo keys set to a euphoric backdrop. ‘Open Monday’ features a full on Orbital ‘Chime’ style riff, chunky percussion drops leading into a drum filled DJ weapon. Ed West & Inja drop ‘Jungle Every Day’ Born On Road for free!!!

When a tunes just too good to be free and yet it is!!! Ed West & Inja just fired off the Junglist anthem of 2017!! (we know it’s still 2016 btw) ‘Jungle Every Day’. Rolling breaks and grab you by the throat bars with more than a subtle nod to a certain Congo Natty classic. The original alone is more addictive than sugary doughnuts but there’s still more! Rahmanee, Fleck, & Gold Dubs all bring their own fiyah brand (Firebrand?) to a massive tune in it’s own right!!!

Serial Killaz have a new EP out on the Streetlife imprint with the great title ‘Jungle Came First’ plus the equally good tagline ‘9 slices of heavyweight Jungle/Drum & Bass from the legendary Serial Killaz. we couldn’t put it any better ourselves, it’s a given this is an essential EP. We’ll leave it to the best copy writer in Jungle/DnB, Mr Jamie S23  to give the low down on this fantastic release….

Serial Killaz return to their legendary Streetlife Label with their aptly titled Jungle Came First EP, featuring 5 wicked riddims that will cater for everyone looking for that feel good vibe. It really spans across the board from brand new flavours, chilled out vibes to a mixture of 90’s meets 2016. This EP is nothing short of an education for the masses.

The title track Jungle Came First slams straight in with a bassline heavy horn intro which builds into something that can only be described as full on bouncy upfront jungle. Percussion patterns link effortlessly with elastic bass that will no doubt appeal to previous fans of Serial Killaz production.

Switching into beautiful atmospheric pads and reverbed vocal samples, the intro of Sub Dub certainly sets a different tone. The progression from the intro is effortless and the whole track has a certain element of calm and tranquility which takes the listener on a rolling journey while still forcing them to nod their head to the infectious kick and snare.

Tubes and Springs is in a similar style to Sub Dub and although slightly more upbeat with its drum patterns and driving bass, it’s easy to hear how well both tracks compliment each other. What really makes this track though, is the crafty under the kick bassline that will shake you to your core.

Taking elements of various Serial Killaz roots, Prophecy follows that familiar route of reggae samples aplenty and jolly organ samples before crashing down with chopped Amen breaks and plenty of wicked drum programming. This one is certainly for the original die hard junglists!

African Drums finishes off the EP and provides a nice blend of everything so far and tosses them into a big mixing pot. As the track moves forwards, so does the elements of production as if the longer you listen, the more things develop.
