OFFSPIN 19 [OFF RECORDINGS]

The always awaited Collected Works series from OFF Recordings OFFSPIN catalogue keeps growing. In the 19th installment the label assembled yet another all-star team including VANILLA ACE, HECTOR COUTO, FORREST, RAFFA FL, RUBEN MANDELONI, and ICS. Catch the Soundcloud preview of the full EP below or scroll down for the full tracks
Grab the mp3s on beatport or the vinyl on deejay.de
Kicking off the EP London’s Vanilla Ace delivers “Work On You,” a garage-tinted, bassy stomper. Swinging high hats and a well-placed vocal sample round out the tune for what is arguably the standout track.
Hector Couto has been another go-to producer for me. On “Satisfied” he runs deep, capturing a more traditional essence of deep house, with Forrest providing the vocals.
“Work That” is the work of a pair of Italian producers, Ruben Mandolini and Raffa FL. In this collaboration the two punch out a minimal, jacking number equipped with a few piano licks and strings for any aficionado of the underground.
Lastly, Romania’s ICS drops “Giv’em” maneuvers into g-house territory. The vocal sample parallels a deep and funky bassline for yet another quality release from the OFF family.

MIGHTY DUB KATZ: IT’S JUST ANOTHER GROOVE (STANTON WARRIORS REBOUNCE) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Really loving the swell of classic tunes making their way into the minds and (digital) crates of producers lately. The latest free download from STANTON WARRIORS flashes back to the mid 90s with their rebounce of the seminal house tune from the MIGHT DUB KATZ. The original was built on a certified disco hit (Cloud One’s “Disco Juice”). The linkage doesn’t stop there though. The Mighty Dub Katz is another alias of FATBOY SLIM and the production is credited to The Pizzaman, another of Mr. Cook’s aliases.
Long story short though, the Warriors double-stack the drums in this edit, “to make people dance.”

Freakazoids / Lee Coombs Free Tracks

Lee Coombs has just let loose two free tracks after destroying dancefloors all over the Miami WMC with both of them. First up is this killer rework of Anthony Rother’s “Redlight District” which itself is a unmistakable classic electro cut that has seen some serious rotation. The Freakazoids rework, filths up the beats and tightens everything up for a proper 2014 re-take.
Next up is a massive cut and paste re-edit of one of my favourite breaks tunes, Forme – “Kick A Hole”. Again just enough added to make it sound awesome and up to date on 2014 dance floors but still keeping everything that made it bang the first time around.
The track can’t be embeded so CLICK HERE for the goods.

Shapeshifter Tour Dates

Following the success of their 2013 release ‘Delta’, elemental soul outfit Shapeshifter will be performing a series of UK dates this spring, beginning at The Bongo Club in Edinburgh on 9th April 2014.
The tour will then move on to Brighton’s Concorde 2 on the 11th, before concluding in the capital with a show at The Forum in Kentish Town on the 12th.
NZ Shapeshifter boast a stadium-sized sound which adds layers of depth-charge bass, jazz, funk, rock and electronica to barrelling breakbeats, capable of morphing from rolling drum ‘n’ bass to pummelling guitar-driven jams to horizon-shifting electronic soundscapes.
‘Delta’, their fifth and most recent album, is their most fearless release yet – embodying the spirit of experimentation in its innovative all-analogue instrumentation of vintage synths, horns and guitar. These are showcased beautifully in the sublime opening chords of ‘Arcadia’, through to the junglist jabs of ‘Shadowboxer’ andd elevated trance progressions of ‘Diamond Trade’. Having morphed through elastic electronic textures to bedrocks of soul and rave, their sound is constantly evolving to motivate dancefloors worldwide.
From the taste-making Bongo Club, an independent all-round artistic hub with an international reputation, to Concorde 2 – Brighton’s premier indie venue – as well as The Forum, one of London’s major live entertainment stages, NZ Shapeshifter have picked the perfect platforms for showcasing their multi-faceted brand of music.
With record-breaking tours in their home country of New Zealand, scene-setting appearances at festivals like Glastonbury, The Big Chill and Parklife, sold-out European performances, four EPs and five LPs (three with platinum sales) under their belts, this multi-award-winning electronic outfit packs a serious punch – and this UK tour promises to deliver more of their trademark energy.

Kelle - Respirator

Out 13-04 -14 http://tinyurl.com/nkgty9q
With two floor-shattering releases from Eastcolors and Teddy Killerz already unleashed this year, Program continues to surge into 2014 with clarity, command and concentrated future-focused clout.
Yet another showcase of drum & bass’s finest international creativity, here we find the label hooking up with Hungarian artist Kelle. Well respected across all corners of the ever-expanding world of bass, Kelle’s distinctive mechanical soul went next level last year when both ‘Respirator’ and ‘Radiophobia’ featured on Andy C’s massive ‘Nightlife 6’. Lean, mean and coded with industrial funk data, they’ve caused all manner of stirs and demands amongst DJs and fans since Andy debuted them.
Living up to its name, ‘Respirator’ is heavier than an iron lung. Stripped back and steppy, the alluring dynamic builds around a hypnotic hook before a waspish bassline buzzes in from nowhere. Sprung with a heady, insistent riddim that slams with uncompromising muscle, Kelle’s attention to detail and production craftsmanship are just as impossible to avoid as the physical, body-minded groove.
‘Radiophobia’ is equally distinctive. Charged with a penetrative two-step drum arrangement and another instantly hooky riff, there’s a captivating sense of drama programmed into every element. Conjuring a masterful sense of groove theatrics, the breakdown strips the track back to a bare pad before all elements are triggered in unison for a high impact second drop. Peppered with naughty nuances and subtle twists, we guarantee you’ll hear something new on every listen.
Two examples of drum & bass at its most stark, progressive and forward-thinking; two reasons why we reckon Kelle is on a one track mission to the D&B premier league. It’s time, as always, to get with the Program!
