Easily one of the go-to labels for the swing vibes, is Freshly Squeezed. The Brighton-based imprint consistently releases tune after tune that end up in my swinging sets. The same goes for one of the label’s staple acts, SWINGROWERS.

“Midnight” follows a string of superb and unexpected cover versions from Swingrowers. This is the first single to be taken from their second album, Remote, and the first to feature new members on clarinet and violin. Here is a mid-tempo track that cuts the jib with some chunky, but not obscene, kicks and a groove that’s quite honestly the cat’s meow.

Expect to hear this tune and others from both Freshly Squeezed and Swingrowers November 22, at the next Roaring 2020s.

A new mash-up from DJ Syko … taking one of his all time favorite hip-hop tracks ‘Mos Def’ and combining it with ‘Missy Elliot‘ … it’s that vocal everyone knows! Residing and Djing in Taiwan it has been tried and tested on the dancefloor to great effect. The 2 tracks were meant for each other, amalgamated in one  beautiful musical cocktail!

Paying no heed to the obesity crisis, Eat More Cake are a djs, producers and songwriters hailing from North-west London. Mixing it up their style incorporates dance, chill-out and occasionally hip hop. Gaining recognition with their bootleg remix of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You”, (which recently reached number 1 on the Hype Machine ‘Remix Charts’) … check it out below!

Here they take on Womack & Womack’s classic ‘Teardrops’, with Emily May on the vocal work. Giving it a twist on the original, they drop the tempo and the bass delivering a beautiful piece that compliments the original. Give their DJ mix a spin to hear it in all it’s glory!

Happy Halloween everyone !

Halloween is fully upon us now so here’s 3 themed mixes picked up to celebrate your evenings however you see fit by Deekline, Doctor Hooka and Specktra.

First up is Deekline with his half hour mix of tunes. A dark grimy selection of Breaks and Bass music tracks to send the shivers down any spine and not just because it’s Halloween. This mix is heavy!

An action packed mix here from Doctor Hooka as he puts together a one and a half hour mix of tracks all of which have a connection to Halloween in some way. Properly fun mix this one with Drum n Bass, Ghetto Funk and Electro Swing all on show with some neat samples added for extra effect. Couldn’t be any more perefect for this evening!
