Funk Ferret keeps his promise to supplying pure heat from down under, every funkin Friday! This week our furry friend has bashed out an extremely funky edit of D Train’s You’re The One For Me. This is what he had to say for himself:

“This started as a sampling exercise to see what I could do with a few different 80s sample packs I had. Along with bashing out a few jams on Native Instruments Massive”

It’s been over a decade now since any new material has been released by Bristol duo, Decoder & Substance. These guys have not only ‘ been there, done it, got the t-shirt ‘ but they have got the pants and socks to match! They were a massive part of the mid-nineties Bristol scene, they have run a label, a record shop and if you’re still not to sure if you’ve heard of them or not you’ll more than likely know their band, the worldwide chart topping, Kosheen.

So with that in mind that’ll give you some idea as to what there Decoder & Substance are all about, Drum n Bass, but, a little more heavy and dirty than their chart music persona. Their new track ‘ Red ‘ is forged from their old skool roots with that recognisable drum loop, enchanting vocals from Susie Ledge and lyrical flow from Jakes. It carries a proper warehouse rave feel throughout and takes filth to a whole new level!

The original track is backed up by two very classy remixes, one from Document One and the other by LA’s, Kronology. Document One take a more liquid approach adding that element of funk that they like to do and Kronology strips the track right back for a rebuild that adds an extra twist of euphoria to it.

These tracks have been released on Technique Recordings and are available to buy from Beatport.

Thanks to On The Rise Promotions for hooking us up with this.

New give away by Aquadrop on the mighty Mad Decent. With a BIG melodic vocal combined with a chirpy bird whistle and catchy drop, this Italian producer first gained attention for his tune ‘Favelas’ in 2013. This track demonstrates his promising talent and gives us just a taste of what to look out for in the future from this emerging artist.

A few months back Clubland TV kindly asked me to record a live DJ set for their DJ Live show, this was broadcast on Sky back in March along side other sets from Jaguar skills, Krafty Kuts, Hamilton and Zed Bias.

They have now uploaded the entire uncut set to youtube so sit back and enjoy in the comfort of your own home without the rowdy drunk people or sticky floors. :)

Megatune indeed! After hitting #16 Beatport Top 100 Breaks tracks, Detach is kindly giving this away for free. Hailing from Khabarovsk, Russia, this young producer and DJ has been involved in the business since age 14. Gaining notoriety for 10 years of dancing as Bboy Vanish, his priorities soon changed, and he started devoting attention to DJing in 2005 making a name for himself throughout the scene. With slamming sets and tight production skills, the only way is up for Dmitriy Ivaniv.

Over the past twelve months, HOWSON’S GROOVE have let loose a number of sweltering releases, merging UK house, garage and a bit of grime. Their results of their output, and their ability to cross pollinate dancefloor success that’s equally smooth and chunky.

The duo’s next release is yet another knockout. Shuffling through some throwback vibes, “Stand Up” is the stand out on the two-track EP.

The rugged house swing of “Turn Me” doesn’t disappoint either. Embracing the aforementioned dichotomy of smooth house stylings combined with chunky percussion – and a bassline so thick you can feel it drip off the walls – here’s another tune that’s going to provide more heat this summer.

The EP is out on April 27 on Fat! Records but is also available for pre-order now.
