Jedi Recordings #20 is a mixed artist release that will have oldskool hardcore & Jungle lovers chomping at the bit. The Hardcore Unity EP is made up of quality true rave music from DJ Jedi, Revert Project, Try Unity, Mac Attack & Skeme. Lovers of Vinyl, Digital and most importantly, the oldskool hardcore/jungle sound, get ready and get your pre-orders in for this upcoming EP on DJ Jedi’s imprint.

We are immediately off to a flying start with DJ Jedi’s ‘Brainwashed.’ Fresh off a release for the much loved Kniteforce label, this new track carries much of that sound and vibe via the uplifting keys that dominate this pure rush-a-thon.

The Revert Project contribute with a tune that captures perfectly that once neutral zone between breakbeat hardcore and jungle somewhere between 1993 and 1994. The synths have the unmistakable ‘happy’ sound of what later became Happy Hardcore while the breaks are pure early jungle and an amazing production to boot.

Next up, we welcome another tune of 2017 contender from Try Unity. Not long back we covered their own debut release which you must buy. This track ‘Together We Rize’ is another perfect example of that rare gem, the vocal rave tune, once a staple of 1992 hardcore/rave anthems on labels like Suburban Base. Pure positivity and a brilliant tune that will make you smile!!!

Finally, there is this amazing cut up late 92 style track that takes elements from the Slammin’ Vinyl sound. Mac Attack & Skeme ‘Junos (Armour Mac & Nunny Remix); splices a well-known piano riff, adds in some hefty mentasm riffage and analogue drum beats for a real flourish of a finish to this latest instalment in a brilliant series of releases from a superb label. Keeping the oldskool more than just alive, rather taking it forward!!!

Jedi Recordings #20 – Hardcore Unity EP

Bristol based producer Al Funk, is another new name to us and was brought to our attention by the All About House imprint. It seems that not only is Al a new name to us, but also to the musical world. With the handful of releases he’s had so far though, I don’t think it’ll be too long before word gets around of his talents, especially once you cop a load of his latest free tune ‘What You Need’. This slice of super soulful, piano infused House, is the summer anthem you’ve been looking for and as there’s not that much of it left, you best grab a copy and make the most of it!

Steve Brooke presents a tasty menu of Bassline House/UK Garage Bangers for Bass=Win. 3 hearty servings of on point bangers to get yer’lugholes around, oh yes!!! Feelin’ the bass? You will be when this 3 tracker slaps you around the chops! While a lot of what passes as ‘Bass House’ can be overwhelming and overly/unnecessarily loud, Steve Brooke focuses on quality production and a somewhat UK centric style. The title track channels the rowdy Sheffield ‘Niche’ Bassline sound in a moody and energetic EP opener. ‘I Realized’ adds in a cool male vocal for a bit industrialised UK Garage action, a dark warehouse filler of a tune. ‘Get Excited’ edges a bit more towards the late 00’s ‘Jackin Electro’ style with R&B vocals and fuzzy rumbles of synth action. Get some bass in ya!!!!

Steve Brooke – Tragic Dream EP

When a remix or an edit of a really well known tune pops up, you can almost hear how it will sound in your head before you press the play button on it. That is something which never applies to the edits and remixes Ronny Hammond makes though. This music making genius often blows my mind when he drops a new tune and thanks to this new edit of Snap!’s ‘The Power’, I’m once again picking up the pieces of my mind. Cuts from the original are woven into Afro Funk influences that are then combined with the most awesome deep Disco groove. Totally diggin’ it and I know many of you will to.

We’re welcoming back Greek producer Maze Sounds to the ward with open arms because with him, he has a stunning new tune that he just happens to be giving away for free! His re-edit of ‘Upper Class’ by, The Poets Of Rhythm, has seen him pick up the tempo a touch for maximum dance floor pleasure and to say it’s dripping in Funk would be the understatement of the year. Loads of love for this!

Fresh from one of the best Garage/House compilations, HIghly Swung Records present Radical DJ ‘Madman EP’ Radical DJspares no horses with the fast and intense rave inspired 140BPM slammer ‘Madman’, a squelchy and snappy blend of 90s rave, Mutant Bass and skankin’ UKG.

‘Mainstream’ takes a quirky vocal sample, no doubt from a thoughtful artist somewhere and lets this sample form the basis for a tasty Breaks/2 Step riddim with some really nice breakdowns and a purist 90s/00s Garage sound design that works on multiple levels. Definitely one that the oldskool Garage fans and DJs will love. Most definitely another first class release from one of the scene’s finest hubs for new talent, check it!!!
