Krafty Kuts, real name Martin Reeves, is the multi-award winning DJ/producer and the undisputed King of breaks. From humble beginnings, Krafty has an enviable career which boasts accolades ranging from eight times Breakspoll Winner, Best International DJ and Best Single of the Year by DJ Mag. He’s played alongside everyone from The Prodigy to Fatboy Slim and even the Rolling Stones. Brighton based Krafty Kuts developed his passion for DJ'ing in the late 1980's after winning a DJ competition at aged 12. Martin then opened his own record shop, through which he identified a sound for his DJ style, a hip hop funk infusion of up-tempo beats. With his roots deeply entrenched in Hip Hop, this mix has been 15 years in the making and it features not just a collection of all of the music that has inspired Krafty Kuts in his career, but exclusive interviews from such Hip Hop legends as Kurtis Blow, Z-Trip, DJ Numark and Complex. Hip-Hop was the first music to truly touch Krafty Kuts soul, there’s not a day that goes by that he doesnt listen to it. Put together like a mind-blowing hour-long DMC final this mix is his homage to the music that has inspired his life, lead his career and touched his soul.

‘ Soul Food ‘ is a brand new album from French producer, Kognitif. An artist that surrounds himself with jazzy soulful Trip Hop and super laid back Abstract Hip Hop beats and sounds and this 15 track album incorporates all of that, massively! To find a superlative adequate enough to describe this album is almost impossible but it’s like the gorgeous sultry glow of Morcheeba with the chilled groove of Nightmares On Wax all rolled into one! If hazy, steazy beats are your thing this album is an absolute must for your collection!

‘ Soul Food ‘ is currently only available from Kognitif’s Bandcamp page where you can download it for free. However, as is the beauty of Bandcamp, you can have a listen and if you really love what your hearing you can give a small donation, which as we know keeps the artists in work so they can keep on pleasing our ears. Fair deal I say! Whatever your situation though this album very well worth owning, make it yours!

Dephzac is a dude from the Czech Republic who loves all things Drum n Bass. He’s been spinning and producing tunes for well over a decade now and due to his hard work and skills he’s found himself playing all over Europe at parties and festivals. Dephzac also created ‘ Dephrecords ‘ which his tune ‘ Frank Sisco ‘ just happens to be released on. It’s a track from 2004 that had previously been unreleased and boy are we glad this has seen the light of day! It’s D n B but with a Big-Beat twist and a whole ton of Funk and could quite easily be massive tune of this Summer despite it’s age. At the end of the day a good tune is a good tune right?

There’s no doubting that it’s taken us a while to get an old skool freebie of A.Skillz into the Throwback Thursday feature, mainly because there’s so many to choose from! But as I was out partying last Saturday night this whomp heavy remix of ‘ Come Together ‘ by The Beatles got dropped, right out of the blue! It goes without saying that I was in the middle of the dance floor avin it large! Whether it’s the first time you’ve heard this or the 100th time, this is still a straight out banger!

Rare Candy ‘Live For The Night’ draws upon the rich tradition of musical and soulful Garage along the lines of MJ Cole, Artful Dodger and other greats, a great song sung fantastically by Gemma Louise with super tight production from Rare Candy  who bring the timeless Garage vibes, melodic soulful keys and shuffling beats, the remixes are excellent too, Tlegato remixes this classy track into a bassy 2 Step roller perfect for the clubs, it gets even better though, for this writer, it has to be Danny Rich’s darker edged remix taking things deeper and weaving the great vocals round a bassline that takes it back to the golden era of classics like ‘Dooms Night’ and ‘I Don’t Smoke’, we do love a bit of breakbeat garage, overall this is an excellent release, a certified anthem for the summer which has gained support on both Rinse & Kiss FM from DJ’s like Mike Delinquent, DJ EZ, Ray Keith, Lennie De Ice and many other luminaries, deserves to be massive and it’s going to be massive!!! Out 08/06/15

Introducing Doxx Rampers for release No11 on Ultra Bass Recs, theres an unmistakable 90’s feel to ‘Bounce’ which does indeed bounce very nicely with looped vocals, detuned pianos and organs, the title track sits between Tech House & Garage, a deep bass and percussion workout with a floor pleasing bassline, ‘Warp’ moves even further into Garage territory with a hook that could be techno, could be house made up of ethereal sounding organs leading into all kinds of subtle pads and FX for a heads down stomper, a great debut from Poland’s Doxx Rampers and more fiyah from Ultra Bass!!!

Whoops, it would seem FF forgot free tune Friday last week and by the time he winged this to us we were in a field getting smashed!

Silly him, silly us. Oh well here it is. Our furry friend is showing no signs of slowing down with his free tunes. Looks like he got confused and thought he was funk chipmunk storing all these bangers under his straw mattress.

Fresh from destroying the dance floor at Shin Dig with his home made bullets and delicious funk bangers. This is exactly the flawless, funk fuelled, unmistakable sound that is WBBL. A man who is showing no sign of slowing down. He’s transformed a classic funk joint sampled by Mad-lib back in the day, basted it with dance floor fury and served on a bed of BOOM!
