Happy summer!! The suns out and the music is sounding great. We’re back with another selection of the finest beats from within the vintage and swing worlds. Lots of free music to dive into, and some big new releases including the new Parov Stelar album. Dive on in!

New Releases Parov Stelar – The Demon Diaries It’s always a massive highlight in the electro-swing world when Parov Stelar releases a new album and this sounds as good as ever. It follows a similar template to we’re used to, with house tempo electro-swing, jazzy samples and even a few elements of disco. Check it out on the Youtube mix below and get it from Juno.

Dunkelbunt – Mountain Jumper Despite the fact Dunkelbunt isn’t particually known for his swing, his style of mixing blues, balkan, gypsy, klezmer and much more fits perfectly with a swing set and so he’s been a favourite for quite a long time. Here’s the sampler for the album which features a whole cacophony of different genres and feels:

Smokey Joe & The Kid – Smokid INC. EP Smokey Joe & the Kid are back with a smokey selection of swing hop and deep sultry beats. With three tracks featuring Blake Worrall on vocal duties he adds a level of sophistication and flow which suits their slick production style. Available from bandcamp. Here’s the lively Smokid INC:

Dimaa – Out Of Control Dimaa is releasing a new album on 14th of June which promises to mix a selection of swing, soul, funk, reggae and glitch hop. All his productions so far have been very strong and so it’s definitely worth checking out. Here’s a taster from it:

Jimi Needles – Jazz Trippin Jimi has added an old school jazzy feel to his latest release. Get it from Juno.

Electro Swing Roundup – June ’15

If like me you’re of a certain age you’re going to feel kind of old when you hear that ‘ I’m Free ‘ by The Soup Dragons is now 25 years old, I know right!? On a much more positive note we have this quite amazing collection of four very individual rare and unreleased remixes of ‘ I’m Free ‘ that are brought to us from, Hifi Sean aka Sean Dickson, singer, songwriter and producer in his band, The Soup Dragons.

The remixes come from Terry Farely, Up Yours, Coqui Selection and Future pilot and are all House based remixes but each with their own unique twist. Get your hands on these rare beauties that have just recently surfaced, you’ll not be disappointed!

As you can imagine, being in a successful band in the early 90’s will only mean that Sean’s wealth of knowledge of music is immense so once again we urge you to pop over to his Soundcloud page and check out all of his other work. There is a vast amount to get stuck into so make yourself a cuppa, get comfy and enjoy the sounds Sean has on offer for you.

A fresh new release from, Spektra Recordings with this Breaks remix from, Bartdon, of the familiar sound of ‘ Man With The Red Face ‘. The original carries one of the warmest glows ever in a track and this remix loses none of that. It’s by no means a remix that’ll blow your head off but it still brings masses of energy that’s only going to leave you wanting to dance!

The remix of La Roux’s ‘ Bulletproof ‘ by Skream is the one that is possibly remembered by most people, but now there’s this one! It comes from, Foamo, who we have mentioned before is one half of the chart topping act, Gorgon City. When he’s not making chart topping music things get a bit more heavy and out comes the Bass, as you will hear in this remix. Things get hyped up high octane Bass House makeover and although this is 5 years old it’ll still be a top curve ball to drop mid set to fire up the dance floor!

Continually developing its ever-growing roster of talent Love & Other proudly welcome JADE BLUE to the label for her debut release Hardwired.

To be expected from the label, the EP is a delectable slice of house. The Londoner’s sultry vocals on the title track put us in a mood for slow dancing. Additional warmth is provided by a radiant bassline and the soft touch of subtle dubby flares.

The EP is contrasted with the bass heavy b-side. “Inside” gives us a bit of a pounding. Distorted kicks and a menacing low end leave no room for warm fuzzies.

There’s always that moment of trepidation when you see your favourite band in the world has been given the remix or in this case bootleg treatment. Fear not though, good news is here!
