The time has come for BadboE to return to once again rock the floors across the planet with an explicit 4-track party breaks EP. The Ghetto Funk Testament is BadboE’s interpretation of the sound of ghetto funk that has been causing so much hype over the last few years. The 4 funky bangers on this double a-sided EP is taking it back to where it all started – as sample-heavy – upbeat party smashing music!

This is the first major release from BadboE since his successful second album Pump Up The Funk that dropped in 2012. Followed by an instrumental EP and a remix album, which very much celebrated the ghetto funk sound with tunes from the very best in the scene.

Making a full Ghetto Funk EP was a natural next step for one of the pioneer players in the funky breaks scene, who has been one of the go-to sources for all funky DJs for the last 10 years. BadboE’s approach on ghetto funk however is not taking itself too serious, but focuses on the good samples and heavy beats and just enough bass to keep it ghetto without loosing the soul of the music. All 4 cuts on the EP keeps up that happy funky vibes and the b-boy flavors that BadboE is known and loved for.

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is now one of the last labels to be releasing funky breaks/ghetto funk on vinyl and we are proud to continue to provide the very best this scene has to offer. This EP will remain exclusive for vinyl DJs for the next 6 month before dropping on digital.

A1. Eye of the beholder sets things off with a big soul groove chopped and cut to perfection. Mixed with some funky street beats and some rocking ghetto funk bass lines. Finally some well-picked rap hooks from the golden era of hiphop takes it home with style.

A2. Feel Like Funkin’ You Up continues on with catchy chopped samples and rhymes from the finest sources of hiphop. It’s all spiced up with some crisp electro synth and ghetto bass lines and some straight up funky BadboE beats.

AA1. On the flip side BadboE returns to the big soul grooves and bouncy basslines as he seamlessly mashes up some smooth RnB vocals and turns it into a ghetto funk anthem.

AA2. BadboE ends off his Ghetto Funk testament by infusing some silky smooth disco vibes, which blends perfectly in a ghetto funk treatment. The art of sampling cannot be replaced with wobble bass and this is a perfect track to remind us of that.

New Zealand’s, Funk Ferret, is one of those artists that seemed to have disappeared down a hole and off the LSM radar. Thankfully he’s popped his head out and we’ve picked him up, at last! We say at last because of the amount of music Funk Ferret has on his Soundcloud page, there’s loads! A huge haul of quality free edits plus original work to buy. Funk Ferret describes himself as a soul bustin’, jazz spankin’, funk slangin’ breaks monkey which will give you an indication of what he’s all about.

The edit posted ‘ Black Skinned Blue Eyed Boys ‘ is the latest freebie from Funk Ferret. It’s sees him blend two different versions of ‘ Black Skinned Blue Eyed Boys ‘, one by The Equals which gives it a psychedelic Funk sound and the other by Derrick Harriot which adds in neat touch of Disco. Funk Ferret then adds his own twist and you’ve got one highly polished piece of Disco Funk.

This video is a collaboration between two people DJ Roast Beatz and Trav Chris Wardle. Both scarred from psychedelic experiences, passionate about Saved by the bell and excited by violently garish colour schemes and day glo!

Their quest was to pay homage to the vintage, green screen, music videos that exploded on our screens in the mid 90’s whilst maintaining the instant party vibes of Roast Beatz production and turntable skills. It’s further seasoned with Dr Syntax’s catchy punch lines, reminiscing about Jif washing powder and Marathon chocolate bars. This video will have instant appeal to the 80’s babies.

Featuring foolish characters, turntablism, tomfoolery and trippy gramophones, it will hold your attention until the final curtain. Starting and finishing with a tongue in cheek representation of the classic MTV Raps show, replicated as MTV Baps!
Roast Beatz performs as character Rob Dick. An unsavoury presenter, addicted to rollups, living in a motor home who hates everything the artist does.

Washington, DC’s funky music ambassador Qdup returns to Fort Knox Recordings with a new single “Funk & Dance ft Mustafa Akbar”. Mustafa Akbar who is well known from his work with Nappy Riddem, and collaborations with Fort Knox Five, Thunderball & Basement Freaks lays down some funky vocals on “Funk & Dance”. Mustafa’s vocals compliment the heavy funk banger vibe on Qdup’s original mix. Auckland, NZ’s keytar wielding, glitch hop funk master K+Lab infused his remix with his signature edgy bass, synth chords and slinky lead solos. Rounding off the single with some nice variety is Whistler, BC’s own retro après ski party gurus SkiiTour bringing their fun, energetic style to flip the track on it’s head into a bass driven Nu-Disco direction.
