TBT 60 – Depeche Mode – Enjoy the Silence (Mesmer’s Re-Rub)
Back in 2009, after hugely successful period of producing a string of top draw Breaks tracks, Romanian producer, Mesmer, created his own label, Scarcity Records. The label, eclectic in it’s approach, is heavly based around Breaks but opens it arms to a touch of Tech House, Dubstep and Drum and Bass. There’s not only a massive amount of music to be found on, Scarcity’s, Soundcloud page but the quality of the music you’ll find is seriously good. If you like you music dipped in lush melodies, acidic hooks and thunderous basslines then you’ll find a whole load of the good stuff right HERE!
The track posted for this weeks, Throwback Thursday, is a re-rub Mesmer did back in 2011 of ‘ Enjoy The Silence ‘ by, Depeche Mode, which was released on, Scarcity. It has, Mesmer’s, trademark sound stamped all over it being deep and lush whilst at the same time bringing huge amounts of energy. A very classy take on an 80’s classic, get stuck in!

Jay Cunning – 1994 Sanctuary Inspired DJ Mix
All you old skool ravers put your hands in the air!! In Jay’s latest mix he reminisces the hedonistic, sweaty, warehouse raves of 1994. Armed with his pony tail and raving jacket he takes us right back to the early nineties when clubbers flocked in their droves to the now legendary ‘Sanctuary’ in Milton Keynes. Think Helter Skelter, Dreamscape, Slipmatt, Ellis Dee & Seduction and you’re on the right track! Tunes taking us back 20 years or more, we have an old school, rave, jungle, drum & bass medley of the highest order.

Hyper – Bully + Remixes
If you start to feel the ground shake you might just think that the tectonic plates beneath your feet are kicking off. What’s likely to be the case though is that someone in your neighbourhood has gone and treat themselves to the new track from, Hyper, and quite simply has it cranked to the max!
‘ Bully ‘ is the new intimidating brute of a tune from, Hyper, that’s released on, Ayra Recordings. It’s one of those tracks that grabs you by the collar and whispers menacingly in your ear, ” lets ave it sunshine! “. It’s a proper hard nut this one which kicks off on a dark and heavy footing, which then builds into some fearsome old skool Jungle Breaks with New York rapper, Shirt, providing the vocal angst. If this tune was a Halloween costume you need some new undies, pronto!
The release of ‘ Bully ‘ is backed up on a global scale with remixes from Japanese Breaks supremo, Esherciks, who smashes it big time, ramping up the bpm with his Breaks remix. Hungarian Drum n Bass producer, Kelle, takes the bpm back down but the intensity is still full on in his Glitch Hop remix. The final track on this release is Eshericks instrumental remix. Music to literally blow your socks off!

SPUTNIK PARTY AT THE MANITOBA MUSEUM

Every April the world honours Yuri Gargarin, the first human in space. LOTEK and I do our part by co-hosting the dancey bits for a Yuri’s Night party at the Manitoba Museum.
We’re doing something similar to celebrate the anniversary of the Sputnik launch and World Space Week. The Sputnik Party will follow a similar trajectory as THE SHAKE, and special guest LAMBO, ignite the dance floor of the Manitoba Museum’s Planetarium. Once again inside the dome will be lit with visuals from two of the most talented visual artists I know: PIXEL PUSHER and TOXIC PROPHECY.
The evening will also feature special showings of Dawn of the Space Age. The Museum’s Sputnik will be on display – produced by the Soviets in the 1950’s. Additional displays and a cash bar in the science gallery will further rekindle curiosity for those wishing to get their science on with a drink in hand. As always, a space-themed costume contest gets bonus marks and gives you a chance to win cool prizes!
Tickets are $15 and includes free pizza, DJs, the planetarium show, and all the science fun you can handle.

Thursday, October 8
The Manitoba Museum
Tix: $15 (available online)
