VA- Flashback Vol 1 [Horizon Recordings]
Horizon Recordings takes a retrospective look back at 2 and a half years and 25 releases and in order to do that, they have carefully and lovingly curated “Flashback Vol 1″, 12 tracks of diverse and classy house, bass and more experimental sounds from the likes of Tom Luka, Cellardore, Paleface & Shoot The Ghost plus more……
“Flashback Vol 1″ is a listening album in the truest sense, it starts off in warm up fashion with melodic Balearica from Monoman Ft Molly Burbridge’s vocal delight “Bloom” and gets bumpy with Luvless on the remix of Paleface “Day I Die” then soulful house excellence via Tom Luka & Gemma Jayne. The heat starts to rise with some hypnotic soulful tech house from MarX “True Emotion” featuring Kurtis Mantronix style amen breaks and scratches. The atmosphere deepens and intensifies with AC’s powerful “Left Behind” while Bristol Garage/Breaks don Celladore channels their inner rave with “Do I Keep Thinking”.
Button Fac3 gets electro/old skool jackin house with the analogue shuffle of “Machine”, Ulex brings the LP to a marching crescendo with some peak time Tech House entitled “Get No Better” while Kirby’s “Be There” is a full on club heater which will go down well with fans of the Low Steppa style of underground club bangers, this is followed up by another UK House style heater, YTC’s “Be There”
We close in with Murder He Wrote’s Bass/UK Funky remix of Shoot The Ghost “Scratches” and finally we get a satisfying breaks n bass wobble to send the people home happy Outcry’s “OMFG”
If like us, you’re new to this label, we urge you to go out and get this essential introduction to an incredible back cat, you can buy from Juno and iTunes
