Electro Swing Roundup
Hey Gang.
Apologies for the delay with this post, the last couple of weeks all got a bit busy while our house had no roof on it, so unfortunately the blog updates had to be temporarily postponed. Thankfully we have now reconstructed said roof and normal business can be resumed!
Free Music Always great to have something new by Bobby C Sound TV…
Smokey Joe & The Kid have given away a rather tasty remix from their bandcamp page. Love the way it drops into drum & bass for the last section.
Rather like the bass heavy grooves on this from Alfonso Swing:
On first listen I didn’t really know what to make of this from Johnny Lectro but it has certainly grown on me and I’d love to see what it does to a dancefloor! Available from facebook.
Plenty of old style melodies mixed up with scratching and turntablism:
Loving the 50′s style grooves on this tasty freebie from Mr Tomahawk:
Quality downtempo grooves from Al’Tarba. Free download from bandcamp.
New Releases
Electro Swing VI – Bart & Baker The compilation series simply named ‘Electro Swing’ has undoubtedly been the most popular series of releases in the genre and so it’s great to see another addition in the guise of Part 6. Compiled by Bart & Baker there is once again a great selection of tracks including artists such as Kitten & the Hip, Lyre Le Temps, Swing Republic and Parov Stelar. It also includes the dance floor destroying Swing Break by the McMash Clan which should be an essential in everyones collection. Available from itunes.
They haven’t got a minimix to demo it so here’s Swing You Winners which is featured on it:
White Mink 3 It’s not released until 9th December but I had to include the teaser for the upcoming White Mink 3 double album from Freshly Squeezed. They’re repeating their format of modern tracks on CD 1 and vintage originals on CD 2. If the last two are anything to judge by this should be an essential purchase. Check it out!
DJ Mixes I never seem to get through a DJ set without dropping at least one Jamie Berry track so it only seems right that we post one of his mixes too. It’s good too.
Here’s a nice electro swing mix with live instruments over the top:
That’s it for this week. If you’ve got anything you’d like included in future roundups hit me up on soundcloud. To find out more about my own events check out the Electro Swing Ball.
