So last friday night we stumbled upon “Soulspun” in York (UK). An underground club night with a difference, apart from “Jethro” the support DJ, the line up was all LIVE! Game Theory, usually a duo but joined by a couple of friends for the night, up first with an electro / pop / funk vibe with catchy lyrics and melodies. Followed by duo “Killer Computers” laying down their slick style of heavy bass guitar funk and stunning electro synths. To close the show was “A man about a dog“, another 4 piece band with turntablist DJM throwing samples, cuts and scratches to make a truly distinctive funk flavour. All the acts on the night were on point, the sound was great and although it wasn’t heaving, the crowd was full of smiley faces dancing away merrily. All in all a great night, if you ever get the opportunity to see any of the groups play, do it. You won’t be disappointed. Here’s the links to some free downloads for all three acts, enjoy.
