Music Festival Preview: Bass Coast Project
Summer is finally in full swing. July is here, the month reserved for fragrant wildflowers kissing your senses, the rise and fall of archaic stars and the sweet chime of a cricket’s symphonies. This is such a fantastic time of year for music lovers far and wide. Many bass aficionados have their compasses turned West, where deep electronic music culture has flourished beyond belief. The avant-garde agenda, created by those immersed in what I like to call the “West Coast bass culture”, will show no mercy in facilitating the esoteric evolution of your creative mind. This is exactly what the co-founders of BASS COAST have aimed for and boy, do they deliver.
BASS COAST Music & Arts Festival is kicking off their 7th year, nestled in British Columbia’s south interior Nikola Valley. This is where BC’s wild local talent and international icons come together to share a weekend of pure magic. On July 10-13th you can immerse yourself between 4 flawlessly curated stages doubled as high-tech art installation, with cross-pollinated genres empowered by world-renowned PK Sound.
Thanks to the impressive lineup of unique workshops that provides mind-opening catalytic teachings, you can get in touch with reality at classes such as Chinese Metaphysics 101, Culinary Fermentation, Wood Whispering and The Love of Chickens. They don’t stop there – plenty of mind-bending excitement is ahead with more than 50 new art installations just waiting to give your eyeballs a feast. If the geniuses behind Bass Coast haven’t triggered your curiosity enough, you’re in for a TENTACULAR surprise. Word on the streets say this year’s theme is tentacles, or more specifically “Tentacular” – a fusion of the word “tentacle” and “spectacular”.
Bass Coast is always proud to remind everyone that the only sponsors are the beautiful creatures of the dancefloor, THATS YOU. With no corporate sponsorship, everyone who participates in the Bass Coast Project can keep true to their vision. The “Bass Coast vision” is quite simple – We are all here to gather in celebration of love, life, to enjoy our favourite kinds of music, and to influence a role of social responsibility in each individual. A place where we can grow and nurture our social metamorphosis for years to come, a gathering where we are encouraged to be our weirdest wackiest self, free from judgement by ‘normal society’. A place we can call home.
Only 3000 people get into this intimate gathering and tickets are already over half sold out. So what are you waiting for? Pack your dancing shoes and come join us in this brilliant, timeless, masterpiece funded by YOU.
