KEYS N KRATES: EVERY NITE (THE REMIXES) [DIM MAK]
A while back we caught onto Keys N Krates, solely because of the three-piece band’s live take on dance music. Their performances broke the mold for what the dance culture had been, live mixing with keyboards, drums, and turntables. Since then, it seems as though the Torontonians have made huge waves, with air play on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, and releases on Mad Decent, Dim Mak, and others.
While KEYS N KRATES‘ pure talent has continued to astound us, their more commercial brand of dance music didn’t necessarily appease our appetite. Their latest however, a remix EP, changed that, namely CHRIS (Cause & Affect) LORENZO‘s booming take on “Understand Why” and TAIKI NULIGHT‘s underground shuffle of “She’s So High.” Both of these cuts sidestep the trap and hip hop leanings and to our ears decidedly earn five stars.
