It’s been just a few weeks since Mav dropped his beautiful and inspired ‘Sounds of the Deep’ album, a collection of tracks infused with ambient awareness and uplifting musicality that stitched together a musical story that’s as much about sweaty intimate clubs as it is about home listening. But Scientific Records boss Mav is not resting on his laurels, instead opting to unleash three brand new remixes taken from ‘Sounds of the Deep’ for your aural pleasure.

Taking the reins for the first reworking is fellow Dutch duo Mindmapper & Fre4knc. Adding their own twist on ‘Between Heaven and the Deep Blue Sea’ Mindmapper & Fre4knc take crisp breakbeats, swirling atmospherics and haunting vocal samples and underpin them with an infectious bassline that’s sure to stick in your head.

Then Krone offers up the first of two remixes of ‘Skylines.’ Percussive layers and washing synths envelope you as you’re carried away by a simple, euphoric beauty which is underpinned by a warping, filtered bass. Before long you’ve drifted into a world of fluffy clouds and beaming sun created by Krone’s undulating frequencies and you’ll be ready to press re-play straight away when the track is finished.

Finally Derrick & Tonika give you an alternative version of ‘Skylines’ that’s even more stripped back. This is atmospheric drum & bass at its very best, with rolling breaks, uplifting music and plenty of sub bass weight to bring it all together.

If you were a fan of ‘Sounds of the Deep’ then you can’t afford to miss out on this remix package, handpicked by Mav and offering some of the brightest underground D&B talent the opportunity to showcase their studio skills.
