WINNIPEG WEDNESDAY: YURI’S NIGHT [APRIL 12]
Yuri’s Night is always one of my favourite events of the year. The annual event commemorates the first human spaceflight by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961 and the inaugural launch of NASA’s Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981. This year marks the 53rd anniversary of Yuri’s flight into space for which the Manitoba Museum is a proud participant in the global night of art, science, and culture of space exploration.
The dance portion of the party takes place in the museum’s Planetarium which was upgraded dramatically last year with a Digistar 5 all-dome projector. Last year, the visuals blew my mind so once again, I’m looking forward to seeing what PIXEL PUSHER and FLAMEWAR have in store.

THE SHAKE (LOTEK & MANALOGUE), NATHAN ZAHN, DAVE RAD, and JR provide the soundtrack on this rocket-ride.
Can’t speak for the others but this is one tune I’m going to play.
