Loadstar - Stepped Outside
Loadstar drop there new Single "Stepped Outside" on Ram Records April 7th
Get it here http://tinyurl.com/p4c9y54
Bristol bass merchants Loadstar need little introduction. Last year saw them unleash their debut album ‘Future Perfect’ packed with no less than 22 tracks. A deluge of success followed, with ‘Warrior’ being hand-picked by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe as his Hottest Record in the World and Loadstar being asked to record a coveted Essential Mix, not to mention bringing their DJ skills to festivals all through the summer including Secret Garden Party and Global Gathering.
Since the release of their album, Loadstar’s schedule has remained packed, with the boys remixing Naughty Boy ft. Emile Sande’s smash ‘Lifted,’ dropping an immense remix EP taken from ‘Future Perfect’ including their own reworking of ‘Losing You’ and now dropping a fresh single for Ram Records.
‘Stepped Outside’ is a future classic in waiting. Chosen by Andy C to open one of the CDs on his recent ‘Nightlife 6’ compilation, this is a haunting and beautiful track that reminds you of just how emotional drum & bass can be. A persistent piano line underpins captivating vocals built around a classic break and bassline combination. Undeniably displaying characteristics that hark back to the glory days of mid-‘90s D&B but brought right up to date with impeccable production and Loadstar’s talent for crafting charismatic melodies.
Meanwhile ‘Under Pressure’ launches you straight into dance floor mayhem with some Loadstar trademarks; pounding drums and grizzling, fierce bass noises. This one is all about the energy, ripping through sound systems like a high-power water cannon rips through a riot. And that’s exactly what you’ll have on your hands when you drop this track in a club, a bass-fuelled, screwfaced riot as the crowd feels the immense bassline pressure from yet another Loadstar smasher.

Ghetto Funk Presents: Father Funk (GFP018)
Ghetto Funk Presents: FATHER FUNK (GFP018)
Vinyl Exclusive
Release Date Late March
(VIPs will receive copies on 21st March)
Lost in Michael Jackson’s woodland estate young Will Williamson was a happy soul, breast fed and reared by a family of disco Llamas, he’d canter hither and tither to his heart’s content, chewing on the lush grass and shrubs planted way back in the Motown days.
Until the day the bulldozers arrived to clear the estate and mine the fabled Tree of Soul. Outraged, the Llamas quickly militarised and Will found himself leading the Llama army against the machines. Sadly for Will and the Llamas, they were trained in combat by Bubbles, Michael Jackson’s favourite monkey and could only offer thrown semen and faeces against their metal foe and it was over as soon as it began. But as is the way with super heroes, Will didn’t die. He was spirited away and placed in a montage, where over the proceeding years he grew strong, running along beaches and up and down steps to Bill Conti’s Theme from Rocky.
Father Funk is a superhero. Big with the bass and big with the beats, he’s one of the Ghetto Funk scene’s sharpest up and coming talents.

One of the original and earliest artists to feature on Sub Slayers, the Schema boys are back and along with them, quite a few other label stalwarts plus the addition of the awesome Atomic Drop!!! ‘Fumin’ featuring the vocals of Chesire Cat is a sleek fusion of trap/midtempo bass style sounds with half step DnB, things get epic for Toronto Is Broken’s remix who ups the ante for some firing DnB, Gella up next, another artist to have featured very early on Slayers’ back cat delivers some steppin’ NuJungle vibes, Jinx In Dub goes in with a roots reggae junglistic relick and to complete a very fine package, Atomic Drop makes their debut here with a beast of a remix that proves unequivocally that theres plenty of life left in dubstep, phat beats and old skool rave sounds abound, my personal fave of all the mixes too, a seriously strong release from the label that never fails to deliver…

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is proud to introduce a new act to the world of funky beats and breaks, straight from the streets of London – Mr Bristow and his main man Benny Silver on the mic. They’ve both been performing together for years as part of the live hip hop act Super Soul Soldiers, and with this new EP they’re bringing along a unique flavor that lies somewhere between classic 90’s hip hop and modern day ghetto funk.
Mr Bristow has been DJ-ing for more than fifteen years, performing in clubs all over the world alongside legends like Carl Cox, Norman Jay, DJ Yoda and many others. His mixing skills have featured on XFM, Radio 1 and Pioneer DJ Radio.
The My Life track is based on some big funky grooves and a straight up banging beat, with mc Benny Silver laying down the chords of his life into three banging verses. The package comes with blazing remixes by some of the very best producers in the scene: funky street beat master Tom Showtime from down under, soul brother beat smith Roast Beatz from the UK and B-Side resident producer from the Ghetto Funk label.
Reviews:
MonkeyBoxing:
“Mash-up maestro Mr Bristow makes his BBP debut with the My Life EP – a funky chunk of Brit-hop that features his Super Soul Soldiers comrade in arms, rapper Benny Silver…”
Juno:
“When mash-up DJ extraordinaire Mr Bristow conquered his native St Albans in fine style, he embarked on a 15 year journey that has seen him win awards left right and centre whilst DJing all over the shop and even teaching the next generation of DJs in his Hoxton HQ. Here he delivers a cheeky hip-hop ditty, laden with vintage brass stabs and featuring the autobiographical raps of Benny Silver. Think a very British Fresh Prince and you’re there. Best of the remixes is Roast Beatz that ups the funk factor to 11. House party gold.”
