The International Breakspoll Awards for 2015 are tomorrow night, March 7th 2015 and what better way to get you in the right mood by hearing an exclusive LIVE mix from Rennie Pilgrem recorded back at the Breakspoll awards in 2011.

Known as “The Godfather of Breaks” Rennie Pilgrem’s contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993. TCR records was a major force in the Nuskool Breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

I don’t know where STANTON WARRIORS are finding all the talent flushing out of their Punks Music imprint, but it’s working, and working well. It’s as though every track released is produced by the Warriors themselves: big, booming basslines, chunky beats, and breaks bigger than the San Andreas Fault.

The latest is from Perth’s BEATSLAPPAZ. On the a-side the young Australians throw down a tune reminiscent of 90s warehouse vibes, warning dancefloors with air raid sirens from the onslaught of bombing 808 kicks; all produced with the explosive fire of modern warfare.

The b-side though, is where Beatslappaz really shine. Maybe it’s just me, but “Them Girlz” should be in every breaks set. The minimal production here lets the 808s bang exactly as they should.

Watch for the release to drop on March 16.

Rico Tubbs

Has Compiled

A compilation of

His Fav Bass House Joints

For Bass= win

Out Now : snip.ftpromo.net/basshouse01

Bass=Win head honcho, Rico Tubbs has compiled and mixed some of his favourite 'Bass House' moments from the labels back catalogue, along with some new and exclusives.

The compilation will be available through all good stores in December. But right now, we have taken the 3 new & exclusive tracks and put them into a EP for your listening pleasure!

First up, we have a MRJ remix of Kelevra's classic 'Hollywood'. The original was released on Bass=Win back in 2012, but now MRJ steps up to give it a techy baseline refix.

Rico's own 'The Return' also gets the remix treatment, this time by Mr Dubz.

Then lastly, JRM turns in an original in the form of 'Who's in the house?" that sums up the albums intention perfectly...

Bass House in its truest form.
