ITS AN ALL DAYER

WITH RODIGAN SUPPLYING THE SOUNDS

A one day event celebrating Dublin's long standing love for Reggae music. It is also a celebration in the recent uprise and increase of nights, party's Record labels and Soundsystems dedicated to the now global sound of Reggae music. We had no doubt that our only international act for the day had to be the undisputed king Selecta himself: Mr. David 'Ram Jam' Rodigan to give us a 'History of Reggae' set explaining the foundation of Jamaican music way back when, to its present day standing.

The all day event will take place Bank Holiday Sunday Oct 27th and run from 4pm till 3am and will incorporate the cream of Dublin's live acts, Sound system's, Club night's and Selecta's with Caribbean foods, Jamaican cinema, Ireland's only dedicated Reggae store (inDub records) selling vinyls, cd's, merchandise and a total overhaul of the Twisted Pepper by the Trenchtown-Ireieland Crew (Electric Picnic).

Extra Soundsystems will be in place powering the bar area where DJ's will spin tunes all day long while rum flows from the in house Rum-Bar and specialised food vendors will be on hand to serve the traditional Jamaican BBQ snacks.

Whether you'd like to catch a classic Jamaican cult movie in our cinema room, Sip from a quality rum selection, Buy some vinyl/cd's, get educated on the history of the music from a true veteran of world DJing, Soundclash and Radio Broadcasting or simply have a dance to the sounds of city's Reggae community, its all here on the 27th of October.

This week we are thrilled to welcome London-based producer, BETA (aka Ian Loveday), to The Armory! For his appearance on the podcast, Loveday put together this tasty, one-hour breaks mixset which includes several as yet unreleased bombshells all forthcoming on his brand new imprint, Succession Records.

BETA began DJing in the early 2000s and has since been entertaining crowds across the globe with his own, unique brand of breakbeat. An accomplished producer, BETA's influences range from funk to drum-and-bass to indie and every style in between. A mainstay in the Beatport charts, his singles and remixes released on well-known imprints such as Electroshok Records, Bombtraxx and Dusted Breaks are supported by some of the biggest names from the international scene including Hybrid, Paul Oakenfold, The Crystal Method and DJ Icey.

2013 brings an exciting new venture for Mr. Loveday: the launch of his own label, Succession Records. "The new label is really an opportunity for me to release a more varied style of music and build myself as an artist", says Loveday. "It's a really exciting time for underground music and there are some great records coming out, so i figured it made sense to start something fresh."

Of his immediate plans for Succession Loveday wrote, "I wanted to get the look and feel of the label locked down, so I'm working with some cool artists and I hope to launch a really nice website soon. At this stage, Succession will look to have 6-8 releases a year and we'll take things from there. I'll be getting remixers involved as soon as the third release is finished."

Dastardly Kuts Dastardly Kuts, or Dion to his mates, has been an essential part of the team for a couple of years now, digging out the freshest and funkiest tracks and mixes known to man. He has also graced us with plenty of exclusive tracks and DJ mixes of his own, most recently the Nufunk Mix Up series, where he uses only tracks featured in the world famous Nufunk Round Up and creates a wicked showcase mix every four weeks or so. You can also grab some of his latest production work alongside Aditup in their Adz ‘n’ Kutz guise. DJR DJR aka David Rickard has been a long time supporter of the blog and has had a huge input into the new design and technical side of the latest incarnation of the site. When he asked about an Electro Swing round up I jumped at the chance and it’s now one of the most popular parts of the blog. Whilst writing his bi-weekly piece he also runs the hugely successful Electro Swing Ball events and DJ’s Swing all over the country.
