Chris Garvey and Nick White aka, The Prototypes, are no strangers to the Drum n Bass scene having taken 3 places in the top 10 best selling D n B tracks of 2014. They have become one of the hottest acts of the scene due to their super charged sound. It’s weekend time once again and yep, we’ve got another 10 cracking mixes from many different genres for you to get stuck in too. As we have done before we lay them out in the format of mixes to get you warmed up for the weekend, mixes to get the party rocking and mixes to see you through the other side when the banging beats all become a bit to much.

4 Warm up mixes to get the feet tapping :

A mix of House and eclectic worldly beats and sounds from 2 Bears as they provide us with a warm up mix for their appearance at this years Sonar Festival. A very interesting and intriguing collection of music that builds very nicely. Get the download HERE.

Next up is the latest helping of music therapy from the 1605 Podcast. French producer / dj, Da Fresh is in for the guestmix as he brings us his pick of the bunch of Tech House and Techno tracks with a slightly deeper feel from the last month. Get the tracklist HERE.

Rounding off the warm up mixes is a two and a half hour mix of Reggae beats from, Slinksta Records that starts of slow and dubby, then progresses to some Nu-Funk influenced Reggae and finishes off with some boisterous Ragga Breaks.

Utah Saints must be buzzing to have, Dope Trik signed to their Sugarbeat label. The Dope Trik guys supply us with a mix of Jackin’ House and Techno with a tempo that’ll have you bopping along constantly as you do you hair and pull on your best threads for a night on the tiles!

The first of the laid back mixes comes from a veteran of the dance music scene, Pete Herbert, which is given to us by, The Ransom Note. This mix was recorded on the, Sancho Panza Boa Boa boat party. An hour of deep, twisted Disco awaits your ears and mind. Pure grooves!

Alex Niggemann’s, Soulfooled Podcast is one that always delivers the deepest, heartfelt and mind melting music. This weeks podcast comes from Italy’s, Retsu and is laced with the most celestial of tracklists and is pure soul food!

The Se7en Deadly Breaks boys do love to smash it when it comes to playing out but like many of us, they too love the deep vibes you sometimes yearn for in the early hazy hours of the morning. This 90 minute mix is a couple of years old now but as vol. 2 is currently being assembled they have recently let us have this one for free. Top dudes as this is stunning. Bring on vol. 2!

Swingamajig 2015 Well what can I say..? I know that we’ve kept banging on about it, but we can truly say that the bar has been raised. Swingamajig has come of age this year and was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was stunning and the quality of acts was second to none. Congratulations to the Electric Swing Circus, C@ in the H@, and all the organisers who did such a fantastic job pulling this together. My own highlights? The Dutty Moonshine Big Band absolutely rocked, great to see Chinese Man bring their downtempo hip hop grooves, Elle & the Pocket Belles with Mistatrick, and of course getting to do my own Silverscreen Soundsytem VJ show. If you missed it this year, then put the date in your diary because there is no better festival to choose on the vintage circuit than this.

Electro Swing Roundup – May ’15

It’s everyone’s favourite time of the week, the weekend! Once again we have a bumper package of mixes to warm you up for it, see it to it’s peak and then sooth those weary minds after it’s all done with. This week we feature some Trip Hop from Paul Cheeba, Deep House from Ellie Cocks, Metha lines up some Tech Funk, Jason Laidback gives us a dose of Bass music, Jungle vibes from Gold Dubs, a triple helping of Breaks from Headset Heroes, Retropolis and Blacklist, Disco / Nu Disco from Kraak & Smaak and to round things off some Tech House from Simon Shackleton. Morcheeba’s very own, Paul Cheeba, eases you into the weekend with this sensual and heady mix of Trip Hop. It’s a spell binding tracklist featuring some of the best female singers in the genre laying down there vocals over some steazy beats. Uplifting in a gentle way with several spine tingling moments. LondonHouseCloud have invited, Ellie Cocks in for a guestmix. A lady who burst onto the scene in 2012 with a reputation of bringing a unique blend of rhythmic and energetic Deep and Tech House to dancefloors of London. After featuring in last weeks mix collection, Metha is back again and this time he’s dropping a mix for the mighty LOT49 podcast. It kicks off with a Techno influenced sound and rises up into some pretty fierce Tech Funk. There’s plenty of new stuff on show here including a few exclusives and an exclusive first play of his new track ‘ Shark ‘. The ever excellent, Armory Podcast returns to the ward and this time they’ve brought a self confessed ‘ bass music reprobate ‘ along with them, Jason Laidback. Many will know Jason from the Finger Lickin’ days as one half of, Slyde and this 45 minute mix still has hints of the bump n bounce from the those days but now the emphasis is more focused towards the Bass music sound. It’s also packed with many pre-releases on Jason’s new label, Nightprowl. The party will be well underway once this gets a spin!

It’s a return for Birmingham producer / dj, Gold Dubs to his Revamped mix series. Here he brings together an hours worth of classic Reggae riddims that have been given a Jungle makeover. The first of our three Breaks mixes comes from London duo, Headset Heroes. Normally found on Sunday night on NSB Radio banging out the hottest current Breaks tracks they have, now found themselves popping into the guestmix slot for Lady Waks radio show. Bringing in the baton for the Breaks mixes is American producer / dj, Blacklist. This dude has been found on the ward several times now and with this latest mix for, Broken Grooves radio show it’s clear to see why. Particularly in music, when you keep searching you find gold and that’s what we have with this mix from Dutch duo, Kraak & Smaak. This is for when those legs are starting to feel the hefty pace of partying and you need to ease the tempo down. With traditional sounds from Funk, Soul, Jazz and Disco, they get combined with the more modern sounds of Deep House and Nu-Disco. It’s Simon’s first studio mix for some time which has given him the chance to hone in on the perfect tracks for that perfect sunrise set.
