Four upbeat party rocking tunes have been gathered for the second edition of See-I’s Knowledge Shine Bright Remixed EP. See-I recently played great shows at the Funk Parade in DC and opening for Michael Franti & Spearhead. This summer Rootz and Zee of See-I will be touring nationwide with Thievery Corporation, playing many large festivals and shows. Just in time for summer time parties and playlists comes this new batch of remixes from their 2014 album Knowledge Shine Bright.
The Remix EP kicks off with Sammy Senior’s reinterpretation of Real Steel, turning it into a bubbling dancehall tune with some heavy bass. Sammy Senior is a globetrotting funk DJ and brings his experience to bear on this remix, guaranteed to get the party started. Thunderball have dusted off their drum’n’bass kit to create a rolling Never Give Up remix for the junglist massive. Rootz and Zee’s uplifting vocals float perfectly over the booming basslines and crisp beats. One of the biggest tracks on the original album, Queen of Sheba featuring Edy Blu gets a radical reworking by Lack Jemmon from Budapest. The result is a heavy hitting glitch hop remix that works the listener up into a frenzy before dropping the beat for Edy’s vocals and a very funky breakdown. Always looking to showcase fresh new sounds and talent, Fort Knox Recordings has tapped Victoria, BC’s own Palletz to remix Rudeboy Razor featuring Flex Mathews. The relentless basslines combine with electro, trap and moombahton elements smoothly, with Flex’s rhymes on top.
The second installment of the Knowledge Shine Bright Remixes is a full of high-energy tunes for the dance floor, and See-I could not be more thrilled. Brothers Rootz and Zee have always aimed to get people dancing and these tunes will do just that. Instrumentals of each remix are available and with a range of sounds from drum’n’bass, glitch-hop, funk, and bass these remixes are a must have for DJs and music lovers alike.

VA- LET IT BE TOLD [ANONYMOUS RECORDS]
So who’s ready for 23 tracks of fresh OldSkool Hardcore/Jungle/Rave beats by new producers? So, you’ll want to know about ‘Let It Be Told’ out now on Anonymous Records, read on and see why you have to have this compilation!!!!
Paul Cronin offers a hefty contribution of 3 tracks and 2 remixes, TV theme fuelled breakbeat hardcore heavy hitter ‘Mafia’, manic Aphex Twin/classic arcade game tribute ‘Pacman Terror’ featuring some of Paul’s trademark euphoric piano for good measure, the aptly named Euro style ‘Torpedo’ and then theres the matter of those remixes, two tracks by Mimang also featured in their original form on the LP get Paul’s tough n’ ready treatment ‘Flame On A Star’ and ‘Rock On The Spot’, the former getting a darker edge while the latter a polar opposite of hyperspeed uplifting sounds.
Raveolver has 4 tracks on ‘Let It Be Told’, all on the experimental tip blending elements of Trap, Footwork, Jungle, techno and oldskool all into one, all 4 will go down well at events like Bangface where variety is definitely the spice of life!!!
DJ Wislov features with 3 absolute pearls of oldskool goodness, ‘Baila’ has the feel of DJ Seduction circa 92/93, ‘Unknown Anthem’ has the Basement Records sound down to a 4×4 kick and ‘The Bouncer’ is a knowing nod to a popular rave tune from back in the day, you can guess!!!
Mimang as mentioned earlier along with Paul Cronin’s bone crunching remixes, has 3 tracks, ‘Keep Doing What You Doing’ will appeal to fans of Slammin Vinyl Recs and Red Alert/Mike Slammer, frantic and sample heavy, ‘Rock On The Spot’ is the epitome of the 92 Hardcore Techno sound, interjections of breaks momentarily interrupt the stomping beats and pure Belgian style stabbage, ‘Flame In A Dark Star’ pays homage to early Vibes & Wishdokta and will definitely inject liveliness in your sets and at the Raves
Theres room for a bit of Tech House with Acid House leanings thanks to Dimi P’s ‘Akshun’, Gareth Monks, a producer of the moment joins in the OldSkool revival with ‘4EVER4U’ sounding very much like a fast and punchy take on Manix and the Reinforced Recs sound, perhaps a touch of Production House and Rising High Recs too, its all in there!!! Gentleman Bastard’s ‘Devastate To Motivate’ is such an authentic oldskool rhythm, it could have been a dubplate from the turntables of Ellis Dee, Speed Garage dons Underheadz get OldSkool with ‘Drum N’ Breakz’ quite simply a party igniter, serious heater with big mentasm riffs a la ‘Charly’, Shifter adds some 00’s style hardcore Breaks in ‘If You Die A Devil’, Liam Taylor shows once again why he is such a talented producer with ‘Immortal Crew’, one for the Happy Hardcore crew!!!! Nayim lays down some more of that piano to make you melt and give you goosebumps, that will be ‘Looking Your Eyes’ to complete this epic 23 track LP, the hardest working man in NuSkool/OldSkool Nicky Allen takes a trip to 1992 packed with crisp amen breaks, subs OldSkool style and riffs to gurn to even if you’re T Total, a ‘Powerful New Force’ is about to hit this city!!!! The force will be with you when you rave to this certified banger!!!!
All in all, if you truly love those halcyon sounds from way back when, then fear not because each of these tracks are brand new and represent a new breed of producers keeping the vibe alive, its incumbent that we support!!!

Hyper Vs Deadly Avenger ‘We Kill Giants’ EP
‘ We Kill Giants ‘ is the collaborative EP from two real giants of the electronic music world, Hyper and Deadly Avenger. These guys carry a real heavyweight sound in their music and although they played around in the same scene they never met until late 2014 where the creation of ‘ We Kill Giants ‘ was born.
Before the meeting, Hyper, has been touring the world with a sound that’s as strong as an ox on steroids, which fits perfectly to the label he is signed to, Beatman and Ludmilla‘s ‘ Ayra Recordings ‘. They don’t muck about on that label! He has also been taking awards for his breathtaking album ‘ Lies ‘ which he has now given an orchestral reworking of and is due out very soon. Word on the grapevine is, ‘ groundbreaking ‘. We’ll look forward to that one!
After Deadly Avengers massive success in the naughties with his sound that equals the grandness of Hyper’s, he has now found himself working in the world of film trailers and TV music production. The Avengers ( Age OF Ultron ), Terminator, Fast And Furious 7 and Chappie are just some of the films Deadly Avenger has created film trailers for just in this past year. Not to shabby indeed!
So with these worlds finally colliding it was inevitable that a creation of music that’s out of this world would occur, and it has! ‘ We Kill Giants’ is three tracks that are set to test your metal. Grungy Rock riffs are met head on by bulky driving beats to give the tracks a real industrial fell. They’re the kind of tracks that would fit any scene in a film where the shits about to go down and all hell is about to break loose. An earth shattering EP that’s set to create shock wave’s across the dance floor!

Fine Cut Bodies – Free Downloads
Any follower of the breaks scene during the noughties and beyond, is very likely to have come across the Fine Cut Bodies. Attila Fodor (or Kevin to his friends) is kindly giving away most of his reworks and remixes from free.
Producing music since 1999, he has also composed music for films and TV as well as video games. With his partner in crime Amb, they co-own the infamous Chi Recordings, dropped more than 60 hits and throwing over 300 parties since 2000. Ranging from the ambient to the more peak time material, this is one back catalog to be proud of!

Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (Broiler Remix)
The ridiculously infections ‘Uptown Funk’ never get’s old! Unfortunately, no official remixes were ever released (that I know of) but Broiler have done a pretty good job at making it club friendly with nearly 2.5 million hits on Soundcloud. Whether a commercial DJ or underground groover, i think this will do the business!

Motion Potion – The Armory Podcast 100
This week in The Armory we celebrate the 100th episode of the podcast with our good pal, Motion Potion, respected San Francisco DJ and founder of the hugely successful production/promotion services company, HUSHConcerts. The set you’re about to hear was recorded live from the silent disco at the Bonnaroo Festival this year. We’re honored that MoPo is letting us share it with you. Enjoy!
“This was my tenth year playing at Bonnaroo Festival and to say that this is an honor is quite an understatement. As I explain clearly in my blog post, this festival is in many ways to credit for my having a career at all. For my tenth year, they had me play six sets over three days and each one was different. I played two sunshine vibe daytime sets, a special 80’s set to celebrate Tears For Fears appearance at the festival, and a late night EDM scorcher on a flaming artcar. For this evening Silent Disco set I wanted to throw out any notion of “newness” or “hipness” and just play my favorite funky party jams and rock bangers for an audience that was waiting (on average) 2 hours to get into the tent. I also wanted to do some major shouting out to Robert Plant, who was in attendance. As it was the place went batshit crazy and I was extremely happy with the result. Often, a good show means a bad recording but I was happy enough about this recording to share it and so honored to have Zach and Armory agree to put it out. Enjoy!” – MoPo
