With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying in the backdrop, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.

However, it’s not just their duteous workmanship and forty years of experience that makes their forthcoming ‘1x1’ album so undeniably huge. In tracks like ‘Nothing Left’ Larry Cons’ vocals lead you by the hand into all-out anarchy. Revving between each break, your picked up and dropped by verbal crescendos. Angry, yet innovative and impressively intricate, Calyx & Teebee have raised expectations even higher.

And then comes ‘Stray Bullet’, a minefield of drum patterns and wavering note arpeggios. A steppy riddim, which completely envelops the senses, each segment explodes on impact. Sliced and diced by invasive samples, you’re unable to resist; plunging you deep into the mix, the slowly building drop pushes you into a freefall of plucky subs and jittering percussion.

‘Ghetto’ rolls out as another new number, again featuring the vocal talents of Doctor; it’s a gritty, sharp and pumping with shaking subs; a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, juxtaposing perfectly against the LPs softer touches.

Having already hit the number one spot on the Beatport drum & bass chart with both singles ‘A Day That Never Comes’, ‘Long Gone’ and ‘Cloud 9’, it’s quite clear to see why the anticipation is almost unbearable. Also including the infamous collaboration with Doctor on ‘Where We Go’, brand new, female-lead vocal ‘track ‘The Fall’, half-time switch up ‘False Alarm’ as well as even more material to be unleashed, this LP will catapult you head first into their greatest output yet.

Having played some of the world’s biggest stages, including EDC, London’s SW4, Ram’s seminal NYE event and UKF’s Sea Dance Festival, expect another one of music’s most prominent seasons filled with new music from Calyx & Teebee. ‘1X1’ is set to make history, which isn’t surprising after hitting millions of streams with their previous singles and detonating dancefloors globally.

Alibi sees two of the brightest lights from the Brazilian D&B scene, Level 2 and DJ Chap join forces under their new production moniker for their second release on the legendary V Recordings.

Fresh from mixing the critically acclaimed ‘Planet V Drum & Bass Vol 2’ album earlier this year, cementing their selection and mixing credentials, the duo have also just made a guest appearance on Hospital Records ‘Future Sound of Brazil’ project, picking up a legion of new fans along the way. Now the boys return back home to V for The Hornet EP – a beautifully balanced EP showcases the lighter and darker sides of the productions.

Kicking things off with the deep sounds of ‘Last Call’, then onto the DJs favourite ‘Hideaway’ which has been rocking dancefloors the world over. Things then get a little different as we move into the experimental half step rhythms of ‘The Hornet’, expect to see this one crossing genre boundaries! And last but no means least is ‘Fire’ complemented by the vocal talents of singer/songwriter Charli Brix, this lush D&B roller hits all the right notes in its delivery, and what a way to finish off the EP!

For such a new act, Alibi are really starting to make a name for themselves with their precision cut productions, mixing the deep with the dancefloor. Support for the duo has come already from V boss Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, DJ Hype, Calibre, London Elektricity, Break, Fabio & Grooverider, Bailey, Kasra, Ivy Lab, Hazard, and a whole load more. The Fort Knox Five camp and all it’s friends deliver the best in electronic funk music today. This is long time friend of the FK5 camp Qdup and his promo mix for the 3rd annual DC Funk Parade. It includes a premier of the forthcoming Fort Knox Five tune “Don’t Go feat. Joe Quarterman” which is a collaboration that came out of the preparations for this years parade. It is set to be released Friday May 6th 2016; just in time for the festivities. Washington, DC native Joe Quarterman had his first hit “So Much Trouble On My Mind” in 1973, (of which i made an edit of HERE) an instant funk classic that was part of the capital city’s red hot 70s funk scene. Qdup’s DJ mix embodies that timeless funk that is still rocking over 40 years later. It features Public Service announcements from Rare Essence, Kokayi, Rufus Roundtree, Empresarios & Congo Sanchez straight from the heart of the Mothership on DC’s U Street, letting you know about the Funk Parade!
