Hip Hop inspired Tech House action on Lapsus Music, its Fex with the ‘Ground EP’

‘Ground’ has plenty of pound and a ton of 80s B Boy style sounds going with big breakdowns and frantic beats!!! ‘Desorder’ goes down the current Tech House route of a busy rhythm with oldskool elements. ‘Why’ ventures into Jackin’ territory while Shosho’s remix pulls it in another direction more on the dark atmospheric Techno tip. Fex has hit the ‘Ground’ running with an excellent EP!!!

It’s been a long time, too long in fact since I brought you the latest goings on in the Punks Music camp. The imprint has been firing out heavy hit after heavy hit and such is the amount, it’s impossible to feature every piece of music that has been released over the last few months. So in this post you’ll find a handful of the many highlights that keeps Punks Music at the forefront of the Bass music scene.

I’m pretty sure I start every Punks post by saying “this is the biggest one yet” and those are the words I’ll be using again because, this is the biggest one yet! The only way to see if I’m having you on and repeating myself for a laugh, is to get stuck into what’s on offer and by the end I’m sure we’ll all be on the same page. Lets get to it…

Download ‘Bitch Up’ here via Toneden.

The first pieces of music I’m bringing you are the two most recent free downloadable tracks from Mafia Kiss and Ryuken. Mafia Kiss is a name many of you will know by now as we’ve been longtime fans of his work so it’ll come as no shock to hear he’s doing the business once again. His tune ‘Bitch Up‘ is a previously unreleased bass weapon he found in the vaults and now it’s all yours for nowt. A sure rib-tickler without doubt!

London based, Ryuken, is one of the newest names to be snapped up by Punks. His Bass/Garage/House sound weaves itself perfectly into the fabric of the label and we look forward to hearing more of his work in the future. In the meantime though, check out his debut release on Punks ‘Murderer‘, a ridiculously bass heavy Jungle inspired Breaks tune that’s bound to leave you wanting more after every listen!

The top tunes don’t stop there as there’s also music to be found from, Monikr, Future Wildstyle, Crawford, Keith MacKenzie & Fixx and CLB. To find all of the tracks CLICK HERE.

Download ‘Murderer’ here via Toneden.

Download Daze Prism’s mix here via Toneden.

Onto the ‘Punkscast‘ mix series. This is possibly the busy wing of the Punks department and the bass guzzling mixes keep on rolling out at steady pace. The two mixes posted are the most recent one from, Daze Prism, and the last one since our last catch up with Punks from, Eddie Light. Both artists are masters at not only picking out the hottest tracks, but also being able to pick out the heaviest and most destructive ones too. There’s plenty to feast on here!

To keep your ears busy you can find more Punkscast mixes from Treasure Fingers, Echo Knight, Cosella and Vanilla Ace. To find all of those mixes CLICK HERE.

Download Eddie Light’s mix here via Toneden.

Label bosses, Stanton Warriors, have been getting busy in the studio of late. Whilst running a super successful label, hunting down new talent and gigging all around the globe, they’ve managed to release three new tunes themselves. All of the tracks carry the Stanton’s signature bass driven sound and all have been doing plenty of damage when dropped in their sets. ‘Feel This Way‘ feat. Grove, is the hot one I’ve selected for you but you can also listen to their other two tracks ‘Walking‘ and ‘Under The Lights‘ with Hybrid Theory, RIGHT HERE.

Buy ‘Feel This Way’ here from Punks website.

With the Punks brand ever growing. they’ve got their blog ‘We Are Rebel Bass‘ firing on all cylinders now and our blogging brother Lebrosk is now writing for them. He has also kicked off the new ‘RB:Mix’ series with an hour of his choice cuts from the plentiful amounts of bass that’s out there right now. We all know how adept he is at assembling a mix and this one sits up there alongside some of the best he’s done. CLICK HERE to find three more mixes from D Moore, Saucy Music and Zach Moore (Armory Podcast)

Nixon is a producer who’s music I always look forward to hearing and his latest EP ‘God’s Choir‘ has me singing it’s praises big time! This epic four tracker has a sound about it that makes it music for the grown ups. Of course, the youngsters out there will undoubtedly love it to, but the old skoolers out there will most definitely appreciate the rave influences and stunning atmospheric feel that’s spread across the whole EP. This is mind blowing music at it’s very best!

The EP’s don’t stop here, oh no! There’s more to be found from Beatslappaz, Distro, Taim, and Cosella & Vanilla Ace.

Left/Right is yet another of my favourite artists out there and has been for a fair while now. After discovering him in the heady days of the golden era of Breaks, his transition to the more bassy realms of broken beat music has been seamless and on the surface at least, effortless. He continues to release some of the most intoxicating music out there, the kind where you have to keep hitting that repeat button! He’s taken a small break from making tunes just recently though and has used his musical mind to handpick 28 massive tracks for the brand new ‘Punks Shadows Selection‘. This album has been meticulously pieced together and a lot of hard work has gone into getting it just right and that shows, it really does. This music will twist your melon man!

Buy ‘Punks Shadow Selection’ here from Punks website.

To finish off this particular post I’m signing out with a bang as I bring you five remixes of the Stanton Warriors timeless classic ‘Still Here‘. The original is a tune I’ve danced to many times and has always had me reaching for the skies while being covered from head to toe in goosebumps. When I first heard it was going to be remixed I was a little worried if I’m honest. Should such an outstanding tune ever be touched? It turns out yes, yes it should and for that I, and I’m sure you, will be very pleased to hear.

Fred V & Grafix have put a huge main room D n B remix together that has already received support from many of the scenes elite. Vanilla Ace brings in the groove with a punchy Tech House remix and Rektchordz keeps the 4/4 flavour going with his fiery take on the original. Offering up the filth is that man Mafia Kiss with his gritty remix and finishing things off is the Stanton’s themselves with a bassy and old skool piano infused summer sizzling remix. One name I must not forget to mention is, Eska. Her heart-melting vocal is the glue that brings strength to all the beats and bass that are built around it.

I hope you enjoy listening to all the music as much as I have and next time I won’t leave it so long!

It’s been quite some time since Bombstrikes released their debut album in the ‘Bass Funk‘ series, 3 years (ish) in fact and we’re very pleased to announce that the wait for volume 2 is now officially over! ‘Bass Funk Vol. 2‘ is a full on attack of the senses and serves up 24 heavy hitting tracks that features a few of the label’s best moments, alongside new music, exclusive edits and remixes that have never before been available. Of course, with a label as hot as Bombstrikes, you can always guarantee a high calibre of artist to fill up the slots on the album and that’s exactly the deal here. There’s no one genre or tempo, but what you do get is music that packs a punch and as you may well guess, the amounts of Bass and Funk involved are very generous indeed! If you’ve got enough pocket money saved up, forget the sweets and bag these treats!

‘Encore’ is what you will be exclaiming when the bass hits you on Alt-A’s bright n’ bangin new tune!!!  Wavewhore turns in a stunning remix that many have rightfully described as asuperb new construct of the original Nu Skool Breaks sound of the noughties. I’ve listened to tons of remixes of classic dance tunes since I joined LSM and there never seems to be any middle ground with them. They’re either not to my taste at all and shouldn’t have been remixed that way, or they’re so damn good that I have to continually gorge myself on them.

It shouldn’t be to hard to work out how this remix of Underworld‘s ‘Born Slippy’ by UK producer, Norff, sits with me as I’m blogging it, but I can assure you that I have gorged myself silly on this one. Norff’s Techno twist bangs hard but carries a real cosmic force that takes you up, up and away and if you think you can’t get any higher, wait till the hit the breakdown, chills down the spine business. I highly recommend you take a listen.

Made To Move takes it back to the oldskool with a House music twist!!! We first heard this artist on Spira Music. Since then he has featured on some of the scene’s top labels like the two Simmas (Black & Red), Hustler Trax & Nurvous. Some of his latest releases are here for review below, check them out!!!

Made To Move- Hardcore Feel EP

http://www.traxsource.com/title/764686/hardcore-feel

Both ‘Hardcore Days’ and ‘Feel The Beat’ conjure up the early 90s rave vibe perfectly with excitement laced synths and rolling beats a la Low Steppa, Dennis Quin & co

Made To Move- You Had It

http://www.traxsource.com/title/757469/you-had-it

We really love this one, for the keen spotters out there, this is a homage to Bass Ballistics ‘Blow Out’, the kick drums get swapped for some rolling breaks and if this doesn’t make your skin go all goosebumpy then quickly check your pulse!!!

Made To Move- Classic But More EP

http://www.traxsource.com/title/748586/classic-but-more

The title track takes a teeny weeny snippet of Baby D ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ and blends it in the percolator for a  rushy garage/breaks hybrid that practically forces you to hit replay. ‘Radi Call’ features a really cool vocal sample and hits the dubstep tempo for a slammin’ breaks banger of a tune!!!

Deekline and Wizard cemented themselves in Breakbeat folklore. Known for their Booty Breaks from back in the day they were a force to be reckoned with releasing a full album called “Breaks, Beats and Blondes” on Botchit & Scarper Records in 2004. Another one in 2009 and 2 mix compilations. Unfortunately they both parted ways but Deekline has kept producing music and travelling the world DJing till this day.
