Daytoner – Best Of The Shedits Vol 3
There’s a number of EP series out there that I look forward to hearing the next volume of and Daytoner’s ‘Best Of The Shedits‘ EP series is one I look forward to as much as any. It’s titled ‘Shedits’ simply because the of the location where Daytoner creates his magic, a small wooden shed in Cornwall and with gorgeous surroundings like that all around and the silky production skills he possess’, the music he makes is always of the highest calibre.
For volume 3, Daytoner has rewound all the way back to 1967 and 1969 for the sources of his 4 remixes and what choices he has made! The EP kicks off with a Funky Breaks mashup of ‘Dead End Street‘ by, Lou Rawis and ‘Apache‘ by, Michael Viner’s Incredible Bongo Band, and the result is one that’ll have Funk n Soul fans leaping off their seats in absolute joy at what their hearing. The second track is a remix of Symarip’s rude boy anthem – ‘Skinhead Moonstomp‘. This broken beat Ska influenced remix has extra keys, beats, bass and horns and hey, who doesn’t like an extra dose of horns!? One things for sure, it’s an absolute party starter!
Track 3 on the EP is a remix of Chuck Jackson’s ‘Can You Feel It, Babe?‘ and this is most definitely one of the most feel good tracks I’ve ever heard, and I’ve listened to a lot of feel good music. This soulful Breaks remix is fixed up with new mellotron, synths, horns, strings, beats and percussion, with the tempo quickened so that DJ’s can use it to maximum effect on the dance floor. The final track off the EP is another slab of gold as he again delivers a soulful Breaks spin, this time on The Emotions ‘I Like It‘ and what a ray of sunshine it is. You’ll be rescued from the darkest of times with this track by your side.
You can look at volumes 1,2 and 3 of ‘The Best Of Shedits’ as the perfect hat-trick. One’s a glorious curling shot into the top corner, the other is a bullet header that pings of the forehead and into the back of the net and to finish off, a crisp, thunderous 30 yard volley that whistles in between the sticks. Just like the goals being ones you want to watch again and again, Daytoner’s music is the kind you want to listen to again and again. Find all 4 of the tracks on his new EP below and the link to land some pretty amazing music.

Mark Zowie – You & Me Grrrl
Traxsource exclusive promo link
https://www.traxsource.com/title/781607/you-and-me-grrrl/
Mark Zowie has a new track out ‘You & Me Grrrl’ on Jula Music. We asked him to share a few words on his awesome new tune and here’s what he had to say:
Lyrically it’s a positive sentiment. “Stick with me and I’ll show you the world” type vibe.
Years ago I played around with a lot of R&B accapellas, yet I desperately hated using other people’s vocals. I just don’t feel comfortable robbing vocals anymore and always avoid sample packs. So the thing about “You & Me Grrrl”, is that I really wanted to capture the essence of R&B vocals, especially the more current sounds, smooth, harmonising, ultimately tight and dare I even say the edges of Pop. As far as the track went I built the whole vibe around that big ass bass line, the big building synth-line in the drop just gelled. Somehow that vocal just sat perfectly

JSquared – Watch My Step (REWORK)
JSquared is another producer who has chosen to pay tribute to the late Joni Sledge, by reworking one of his favourite Sister Sledge tracks ‘Got To Love Somebody‘. The funk hits the fan from the get go in this rework and the punchier beats and extra groove applied, really breathe’s new life into an already amazing track and you can be sure that’ll you’ll be met with smiles wherever you choose to spin it. Ace stuff!

Freestylers – Triple J Mixup – 19.03.2005
The original members of the Freestylers are Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey who started off their musical careers in the mid 1990’s. They released their first two albums ‘We Rock Hard’ and ‘Pressure Point’ on the legendary Breakbeat label Freskanova. The third and forth albums ‘Raw as F**k’ and ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ were released on ‘Against The Grain’another Breaks power house based label. Their last album from 2013 ‘The Coming Storm’ was released through Black Hole Recordings.
The Freestylers began their career as an Urban Electronic Music Act, and their early tunes ‘B-Boy Stance,’ ‘Ruffneck’ and ‘Warning’ set the marker. As their music progressed so did their anthems with the seminal tunes ‘Punks’, ‘Boom Blast’, ‘Fasten Your Seat-Belts,’ ‘Painkiller’ and more recently ‘Cracks.’ In addition to their status as underground heroes, they have gained commercial success with their huge global hit ‘Push Up’ and have had their music featured in TV and film, including the hugely successful comedy film Zoolander.
This mix was recorded for Australia’s Triple J Radio back in 2005.
