Tough Love ‘Animal’ is a taster from their upcoming ‘Past, Present & Future’ LP which will be released in three parts across spring and summer 2017. Part 1 (Past) was released in late March; Part 2 (Present) will be released in June, and Part 3 (Future) in September. To celebrate the album, Tough Love are releasing a new single every 4 weeks.

Tough Love bring the song elements back into House music with their steady string of quality singles and EPs. ‘Animal’ amply demonstrates that signature style with a classy take on the Tech House sound. A memorable vocal adds to the swirling peak time mood on this must have tune.

Sure to brighten your weekend is a new release from the legendary Cut La Roc on his own label Rocstar Recordings. If all new music from the big fella isn’t enough, there’s a remix package which covers just about every base (bass?).

Supa Disco is a disco groover that’s well, super!! The original rolls along delightfully upon layers of horns, keys and wah wah guitar which sit nicely in the mix with a chugging bassline that’ll have you strutting along in no time. But if this inexplicably isn’t your bag, don’t despair because there’s bound to be something for you among the 4, yes 4, vastly varied remixes on offer here.Danny Way steps up first, doing away with the horns to make room for a far dirtier bass while keeping the groove of the original. Then you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d gone onto another track as the intriguingly named Cromer Suicide Club up the funk and swing quotient giving the track a whole new vintage feel. Next up on remix duty is LSM fave Cakeboy, bringing his signature bouncy breakbeat touch to the party, complete with glitched out bass and vocals. If you are a house fan, and who isn’t, don’t worry; you are ably catered for by Wax Hands who offer a twisted acid electro interpretation to complete the super Supa Disco release.

The tune that’s gonna more than satisfy your appetite is his take on the late, great, Al Jarreau‘s ‘Boogie Down‘, which features in Ronny’s words…

Kora’s ‘Caddo EP’ is another strong showing from the Sol Selctas label. The title track sounds like a Deep House interpretation of an impromptu dance of the animals in an Amazonian cave. The guitars that introduce themselves midway and the organic instrumentation that follow on are mind capturing.

‘Wahiba’ with Nic Falardeau is cerebral and erudite in its dignified elegance.  Powell transforms ‘Wahiba’ into a sublime minimal tech workout to take us into the wee hours. Music with power.

Strange Rollers makes an emphatic return to Top Drawer Digital with ‘The Sweet & Sour EP’ Also making a return is Barry Blades, a new alias for the 601 member who really impresses with a stunning remix contribution to the EP

The title track-‘Set Me Free’ is an incredible blend of lush 90’s House music piano riffs, jagged rave/techno synth sweeps and 2 step Garage beats

‘Set Me Free’ is a smooth and seamless fusion of Techno, Bass Music and rushy pianos. Strange Rollers has made great tracks for decades but his game is exceptionally strong on this guaranteed repeat play banger!!!

As previously mentioned, Barry Blades, part of the 601 team embarks on a new musical venture with his remix of ‘Set Me Free’ and it will truly take you somewhere special. Euphoric oldskool rave meets chunky cut up breaks but this isn’t a good enough description of how good this is. Depending on your angle, you might like this writer, detect a strong sense of the early 90s sound of Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era or Krome & Time in a modern setting. However you chose to interpret, you will be blown away by this roller coaster of brilliance.
