Without doubt, DJ Icon has become an iconic figure in the U.S. dance music industry and beyond. With a career spanning almost two decades, she has captivated audiences the world over with her signature bass-heavy cross-genre Bass Music sound; magnetic stage presence, skillful DJ mixes and productions. It’s no wonder why she’s been dubbed one of the leading ladies of this domain.

Starting in 1996 at age 16, ICON diligently rose through the ranks of the San Francisco underground at a time when female DJs and promoters were few. In just a few years, her skills and growing reputation had already landed her numerous residencies in San Francisco, as well as a steady flow of stateside and international bookings. ICON has also gained success in radio and television in addition to rocking dancefloors. Among her accolades are releases on well-known labels, features in two TV series, a spot in Shejay’s “Top 100 Female DJs”, being voted one of San Francisco’s best in the Nitevibe “Top 10 DJ Dreamteam”, scoring a coveted sponsorship from Pioneer Pro DJ and building a huge fanbase on her social media pages and Soundcloud.

After some very busy times of late, WheresNorth? has found a window in his schedule to assemble the third mix in his ‘Warehouse Sessions’ series and like us, we’re sure you’re going to as grateful as we are about that. The newly formed Spanish duo, Stereotype, have long been lovers of the Acid House classic ‘Vamp’ by, Outlander, much like many old skoolers out there. With a strong desire to work it into their sets, they decided to remake it so it had the maximum amount of appeal for the dance floors of today, whilst still harnessing all of the old skool magic. It wasn’t too long ago that the Brooklyn based Disco label, Razor-N-Tape, celebrated reaching the well deserved milestone of 25,000 followers on Soundcloud. As many labels like to do when passing such achievements, a free track has been delivered and what a celebratory piece of music it is from, Lou Teti and JKriv. Their sparkling track ‘You Got Yours’ has ‘It’s the weekend’ stamped all over it and should be played loud so all can join in the celebrations that are going down because the weekend has landed!

One of our very favourite labels, Scour Records, are back in town and they’ve rounded up a bunch of dapper chaps so that they can present to us ‘Scoured Swing Vol 01′. Well, what we have here is another label that although is new to us, it’s one that is delivering many of our favourite artists with several of them being household names here on the ward. Swing Set Sounds is the label that we’re incredibly happy to share with you. This bout of happiness is clearly being brought on by the music on offer, because it sticks to the labels ethos of serving up music that will lift your spirits in every way possible and has the feel good factor woven into the fibre of every track they release.

The first piece of music to come from the Swing Set Sounds camp is JPOD‘s jaw dropping free remix of Al Green‘s ‘Love & Happiness’, which is exactly what this track is all about. Midtempo beats, funk, soul, horns, Al Green, it’s the best recipe you’re ever likely to encounter!
