Advent Day 2016 #8 – Fifties: iDJ Raw Talent Mix (2006)
Throwback Thursday! #8 in our calendar sees me rewinding to over ten years ago. I think this is probably the third mixtape i ever made. It was the era of myspace and i had it on my page for people to download and listen to. No Soundcloud then folks! I used a little site called mix.dj.

DJOKO- What It Is EP [Dusty Grooves]
Release Date: 16 12 16
Dusty Grooves welcome onboard a huge name in the house scene. DJOKO brings enough house music heat to melt steel with his forthcoming ‘What It Is EP’
Two tracks, the title track, additional track ‘Marked As Red’ and 2 BIG title track remixes are the components for this EP. ‘What Is Life’ is a bouncing rhythm deluxe with subtle stabs, a thoughtful spoken word vox and oldskool rave spinback samples plus the well known ‘Tear down the place’ vocal known to fans of DJ Slipmatt’s seminal ‘SMD Vol One’.
As for the remixes, Luca Secco & Craftkind add in some extra rave vocals and give ‘What Is Life’ a tough, funky makeover. Matteo Rosolare & Jojo Angel explore darker avenues with their remix, allowing for plenty of space between the eerie keys and bringing a feel of intensity, In closing, we have a real bonus with US style grooves and deep drops of ‘Marked As Red’.
