While I’m in the Halloween mood, DJ Ark dropped another Halloween themed mix of music. No genre has been left untouched and every bit of music is Halloween based, I’ll let DJ Ark explain himself:

“When most people do Halloween mixes they might use a special opener and a few movie samples….that is not this mix. Every song on here is Halloween based. I wanted this to be a love letter to the holiday and all the horror movies I adore.

This is also the 10 Year Anniversary of the last Halloween mix I did and I’ve been meaning to make a new one for years. It seemed like the perfect time so I dug deep in the vault to put together something really special. No genre was off limits and this plays out more like a presentation then a mix at times. It’s really cool and I had a lot of fun making it.

If you love Halloween like I do or are a horror movie junkie, I can’t see you walking away unsatisfied. But fair warning: this is a limited edition and will disappear after Monday.

And I’d reveal the tracklist but it will take all the surprise out of it.

Happy Halloween!” – DJ Ark

A couple of years ago we put together an almighty post featuring 6 mixes from that years Burning Man and after a quick search of the internet, we tracked down 8 from this years desert party! On offer is a huge amount of music both in time and quality so lets get to it…

We quick things off with one of the most notorious stories of Burning Man 2016. The Funk Hunters got an invite from their good friend, The Festival Guy, who is one of the founders of ‘Camp Ego Trip‘, to play a set as Daft Punk, helmets n all! As massive fans of Daft Punk, the guys jumped at the chance and took to the stage to play a Daft Punk inspired set with Griz joining them with some live sax action. The whole thing was kept a tight knit secret and had everyone wondering if it actually was the French duo performing live, including mainstream media giants, Billboard. Clearly they played a blinder so give their mix a spin!

Mayan Warrior is a superbly decked out art car that’s driven from Mexico to the playa each year. It’s hosted some truly talented DJ’s and a vast array of music that’s all smothered with dust and love. Out the of the 10 mixes posted from there, it was very hard to pick one as they’re all so breathtaking, but DJ Three‘s set is the one we’ve gone for and I’m sure it’ll be the perfect tempter to lead you on to the rest that lie in wait. Reza & Barry Obzee pay tribute to the 1992 classic ‘Who’s The Badman’ by Dee Patten. The original was a massive crossover track played in House Music and Oldskool Hardcore circles. Reza & Obzee are themselves veterans from that very early rave scene. Their new take on ‘Who’s The Badman’ brings it nicely up to date in a dark Tech House style fitting with the Instereo Recordings style.

Those familiar vocals are nicely blended in with a huge building drop, layered drums and dark bubbling keys. All ingredients for a massive tune for oldskool and nuskool heads alike!!!

Reza & Barry Obzee- Who’s The Badman [Instereo Recordings]

One of our favourite ladies in Breaks, Miss Mants, has really put the pedal to the metal on her remix of ‘In Beat We Traust’ by, Lady Waks & Mutantbreakz Feat. Rubi Dan. As well as harnessing the filthiness from the original, Miss Mants has given this a classical twist with string sections neatly placed throughout her remix and in particular, a breakdown just over halfway that sends tingles down the spine, before the broken beats and bass kick in hard once again. Ace Breakbeat business!
