Well look what we have here! Our good pal, Martin Flex, just dropped this explosive 60-minute breakbeat mix into our Christmas stocking. Press play. Get down.

It doesn’t get much bigger in breaks no matter what country you go to. This guy has played damn near every festival in every country on the planet.

Martin Flex aka PuRe SX, is one of the freshest names on the bass & breaks scene. A producer who knows how to drop the 808 boom and send the bodies flying around the room. Blasting out of the thriving UK underground since 2008, he currently DJs all over the world from USA to Russia, London to Spain, and beyond.

Famous for low end terrorism in the form of his smash hits Taking It Back, Shake Ur Body, Sunglasses, Another Day, Let Me Go, Bustin Dubz, 212 Booty and Link Up alongside Deekline, Martin Flex aka PuRe SX has picked up support for his music from all the top names on the scene, from Deekline to Stanton Warriors, Ed Solo to Lady Waks and Krafty Kuts to the
Freestylers.

After his successful “Let’s Go Tours” of the U.S.A. in 2015 & 2016, he is returning back for another U.S.A tour in early 2017… Watch out!

Here is a producer and DJ with the skills to lock down the club for as long as he’s on the decks: a true original with an arsenal of floor-shaking weapons to get those hands up and keep them there ’til the break of dawn.

As 2016 draws to a close, Rhythm 4 Reason throw a contender for the best track of the year into the hat.

Love House music? Also love oldskool hardcore circa 1992? Messrs Wayne Dudley & Phil Maher clearly do too. The difference is while the likes of you and I endlessly debate on social media over which 92 tunes has most merit, these two went and made a brand new tune with all the best bits of the original oldskool sound. Rushy pianos, call to action MC vox, uplifitng synths and on the ‘Sound Of The 92′ Cru’ mix…breaks, yes breaks!!!

And if you’re more of the 4×4 persuasion (and why not after all?) then the ‘2 Kool For The Newskool’ Mix retains all that oldskool flava in a massive Tech House package.  ‘Make Some Noise For The DJs’ is out now on Ulybug. as far as this writer is concerned it’s one of several Rhythm 4 Reason tunes that stand up as this years biggest and best.

Straight outta Scotland, 18 09 Records is an independent House & Techno label putting out quality underground beats on a regular basis, we round up some recent releases…

Luca De Santo- Relevance EP

Some real peak time melodic techno right here. Deep, swimming synths, Hip Hop vox and pounding beats are the tasty ingredients for ‘Relevance 101′. ‘Relevance  102′ leans more towards House and has a nice Balearic feel to it, perfect for ‘Ibeefaaa!!!’

Oliver Jay- Lucky strike EP

Now this is a hulkingly huge EP!!! ‘Fake Piano’ in particular just leaps out of the speakers with ravey Korg M1 pianos and a bouncing sequence of pads and beats that fit perfectly with the populist style of Tech House. ‘Going Home’ completely flips the script to uplifting classic garage/deep house with vibey organs and pianos. Not content with being incredibly diverse already, Oliver Jay turns the tables once again with the funky/tribal beats of ‘It’s Good’.

Stonedove- Trouble

We’ve been won over by a number of great tracks by Stonedove this year, here’s another one. A warm smile of a track that just keeps getting better. Lush pianos, shades of disco and those flutes!!! Oh My!!! Caveman turns in a excellent remix worthy of a Defected album and Libs does the same in his own upbeat style full of rich synth work.

The ‘Echo Valley’ album by, Afternoons In Stereo, is one that I’ve been meaning to post for a few days now. Like many other music bloggers I’m sure, I listen to music while writing about to make sure the feel of the music comes through in the words written. This album though has caused some minor issues as it’s left me unable to think or do anything, simply because of it’s sheer beauty and gorgeous downtempo vibe. I’m a huge lover of music that flicks the ‘think’ button off because with so much going on in the world, stepping into a softly padded bubble to float away with just good music, is absolute bliss.

‘Echo Valley’ has been released on the amazing Greek label, Timewarp Music and contains 13 tracks that take you on a tripped-out psychedelic journey into a fusion of Jazz and Funk. It’s music that’ll reach in every corner of your mind, opening doors you never knew were there and behind them, good times, the best times. Dive in and see for yourself.

Buy ‘Echo Valley’ here from Bandcamp.

Dropping in with some full on fatness is our Australian friend, Frankee More. Subdata makes breathtaking Jungle & DnB for labels such as Nottingham based Omni Music and now with his first release for Boomsha….

The tempo is lowered to suit the established and distinct style of Boomsha, home to many of the Jungle scene’s very best. The style, however on both tracks is deep, thoughtful and there’s certainly no slacking in the bassline department!!!

It’s easy to pick up on the faithfulness and love for Jungle/DnB over the decades in these two fine examples of contrasting ambience and darkness set to true junglist breakbeats chopped up in true junglist fashion. Subdata makes a classy contribution to one of the most admirable release catalogues in the modern DnB/Breaks/Jungle pool of imprints. Nothing less than a 10/10, definitely much more!!!

We’re catching up with one of our fave House labels, Unique2Rhythm with 2 essential new releases by True2life & Secret Sinz/Wayne Dudley….

True2life Ft Phillip Ramirez- That’s How Much I Love You

This track will wrap you up nice n’ warm with seminal soul/disco sounds set to a house beat and completed by vocals that perfectly fit the mood and vibe of this great big underground modern classic. How much do we love this? 110%!!

Secret Sinz & Wayne Dudley- Living In The Moment

Secret Sinz draws inspiration from 90’s house music anthems a la Basement Jaxx, anything on Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Todd Terry et al. He distills those influences into his own crisp productions loaded with all the good stuff, pianos, sweeping melodic drops, you name it.

Wayne Dudley is another favourite to the blog and like Secret Sinz, he too has carved a clear niche for quality beats with an oldskool feel. This collab really is the best of both worlds featuring all the vital ingredients as mentioned above. As a real bonus, Wayne Dudley’s remix is a deep soulful treat with a touch of Fusion Groove Orchestra style smoothness, rolling percussion and a catchy as fire lead hook, excellent!!
