A filling our lives full of Funk and Soul with his mix for our ‘Christmas Advent Calendar‘, DJ Snatch returns to the ward with yet another of his diamond studded edits. His track of choice this time comes from the legendary, Etta James and her classic track ‘I Got You’. DJ Snatch has added a touch of crispness and a bit more bite to the beat in his edit and when you throw in the horns and Etta’s incredible vocal from the original, you’ve got a track that’s gonna make you feel so good, you won’t be able to leave it alone. I’m hooked and I bet you will be too.

Pre-Order From Beatport 30/01/17 Release

De:tached introduce a fresh and highly promising talent to the house music scene. The artist’s name is Rooke, the track is called ‘Control’ and it’s a scorcher!!!

‘Control’ centres around a minimalist approach, switching between bleeping techno synths and a funky hook,  Majesty gives ‘Control’ a Breakbeat/Funky Tech House makeover while Carl St. Pierre & Mike Jones go for a robust and sturdy rerub with a firm emphasis on the drums.

Fans of the prevailing energetic Tech House sound championed by artists like Tapesh & Lupe Fuentes will love this latest release on De: Tached and with good reason!!!

Yoshitoshi treat us to 2 new remixes of Valentino ‘Flying’. Cid Inc’s VIP, an alternative version to his remix from last year-flourishes with rampant energy ready to burst out of the speakers and float through the air above the revellers dancing to its beat. Perfectly suited for the big room or indeed that moment of unbridled euphoria that can happen anywhere, anytime.

Sharam’s edit of the Psycatron is labeled as Prog House on Beatport, but it sounds very much like Techno to us!!! The Pink Floyd style guitar section is kept from the original but this is not Roger Water’s wall being built around that riff. The pounding drums and snarling stabs call on us to stomp hard!! all in all, two excellent additions to a great track adding further life and longevity. In a word, superb!!!

Seems like only yesterday when our ears feasted on Preset’s first volume in the ‘Back To The… ‘ series. Now those very ears are treated to a second round, three in total tracks; all straight up 1992 rave themed future house B A N G E R S!!!

Once again, Preset take three stone cold classics from the era of glowsticks and Hi-vis jackets and retells their story in slammin’ 4×4 House music style. ‘The Bouncer’, ‘We Are IE’, and ‘DJs Unite’ all get a fresh lease of life for 2017. We especially love ‘DJs Unite’, a track that builds up with jungle breaks cleverly mapped to the house beats before those mess with your brain riffs known to a certain age group kick in just ahead of the Future House mid section still with breakbeats intact!!! A huge EP from Preset, we really hope there will be further volumes in future!!!

It’s a welcome return to the ward for Melbourne based producer, JSquared. He can often be found adding a decent lick of Disco to his music and his rework of Melba Moore‘s 1982 hit ‘Mind Up Tonight’ is no different. He’s given the slick and smooth original an extra boost of groove and sparkle, so it’s ready for the dance floor once again. Grab it while it’s hot!

Petko Turner is a producer who makes high calibre music and since we discovered his work, it’s been a mainly Disco influenced affair. For his latest piece of work though he’s headed off down a different route altogether with this superb broken beat edit of ‘Try Again’ by, Aaliyah. The dusty Big Beat vibe that accompanies Aaliyah’s stunning vocal is a joy to behold and it’s all yours for free. Go get it!

‘Mother Knows Best 4′ on Mother Recordings kicks off in a most resounding manner with the buoyant beats of Robosonic & KlangKuenstler ‘Nuts’, a thumping rendition with a sanguine disco lead hook. This one will go down well with fans of imprints the likes of Simma Black

Birdhouse ‘OMG’ grabs your attention not just because of the unforgettable vocal sample. The rising constitution of 8 bar synths, crunching beats and whiplash/cowbells is just as attention grabbing!!

Rodriguez & Gabriel Sordo construct a recondite expedition through the dusty roads of Latin America with the hypnotic chords of ‘Camino Largo’, a great crowd warmer.

Thabo Getsome asks ‘Where The Party At’ for track four of ‘Mother Knows Best 4′ incorporating eerie off the wall Jazz sounds, the kind that once graced Hip Hop in it’s golden age and are now utilised by the likes of Greco and others.

Andromo gets to wrap things up with ‘State Of Mind’, a rugged dubby track in the style of Lupe Fuentes & Black Girl // White Girl. A tidy way to round up this essential compilation. Mother definitely knows best!!!
