This glittering Disco rework of ‘Is It Love You’re After’ by, Rose Royce, comes from the highly productive and always reliable, SanFranDisko. The original he’s reworked from Rose Royce, is a tune that’ll be familiar to so many, just in a different guise. The most recognisable of these guises will be when S-Express sampled it for their track ‘Theme From S-Express’. The Disco original however, has now been re-energised by SanFranDisko, so that it now powers the smiles and the good times across dance floors once again.

Let’s take it back to the oldschool is a well known catchphrase specially if you are near Union Square ;-). In any case DJ Madbeats steps back in time with a selective mix of acid sound type tunes celebrating the very healthy Rave Scene that occurred in the early 1990’s. This mix will take you on a musical trip back to that time. It features tunes by the most well known producers of that era along with some underground classics and a couple newer tracks which are a throw back to that original acid sound. Hope you enjoy !

I found this mix from Jay Cunning on an old CD i had laying around for eternity. This mix is from around 2002 the heyday and rise of the Nuskool Breaks genre, it really is a classic mix from Jay containing some great old tunes. Jay himself has been around for ages and is well known for promoting the sound of Breaks over the past decade and more. He is a former DJ at London’s KISS FM where he had his own Breakbeat Show (KISS 100FM Breakbeat Show) and has also toured parts of the world bringing the sound of Breakbeat to various parties and festivals. He runs the Sub Slayers label and is a partner with Terry Hooligan in On The Rise Promotions an agency promoting the sounds of now while also running its own DJ Academy helping aspiring DJs to be the best they can.

Lanx and Nick Slater, aka the Drumattic Twins, have been a leading force in dance music since they first began touring over 20 years ago. Making their name as Shades of Rhythm, they ruled the early nineties rave scene with legendary anthems ‘Sweet Sensation’, ‘Sound of Eden’, ‘Extacy’ and ‘Homicide’ and performed with the likes of The Prodigy and N-Joi.

Since rebranding themselves as the Drumattic Twins in 1997, Nick and Lanx quickly replicated this global notoriety thanks to massive hit tracks ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ ‘Twister’ and ‘HyperSpeed’. They teamed up with the legendary release platform Finger Lickin Records in 1999 and settled quickly into the close-knit world of the breakbeat scene, working alongside global acts such as Plump DJs, Soul of Man and Lee Coombs.

From a string of releases from 1999 starting with top the selling “Feeling Kinda Strange” till late 2013 with their “Get Up and Dance EP” on Sugarbeat Records and 2 full length albums in between the Drumattic Twins have laid down a variety of music that have influenced the Breaks Scene and shaped it in to what it is today.

This mix was an exclusive promo for Mighty Breaks, a club in San Francisco that promoted Breaks at that time.
