This weeks classic Throw Back mix is from none other than the Plump DJ’s. Now I was going to post the awesome Elastic Breaks mix they did for Mixmag but I’m sure everyone has heard that a million times (quite rightly so). I wanted to dig a little deeper and this mix was one of two I found that I feel show the duo at their best. Throwing down classic Plump material alongside lesser known bootlegs, garage, break-step, tearout and house they meld all the different flavours of breakbeat into an hour long mix of titanic proportions. This is one that needs to be played at high volume!

Rain Maker Recordings is the imprint run by RAIN CITY RIOT (aka HIGH RANKIN). Specializing in all things housey, the label releases all of its material for free download and their latest captures some incredible sonics on number six.

The Brighton-based production trio, BLUEBOOK, recruited the vocal talents of Agné Genyté on their single “Magic.” In doing so they serve up a hot slice of deep, bassy house perfectly timed for the summer. Remix duties come from label boss, Rain City Riot with a stripped back, deep and building bit of house. GEEKBOY flexes his low end muscles on his garage interpretation. Three free tracks here easily provides a little something for everyone.

This has been in the queue for far too long so forgive me if you’ve heard this. The thing is though, this is an absolute must have, especially when it’s a free download courtesy of High Rankin / Rain City Riot / Rain Maker Recordings.

ENDOR channels some early 90s vibes (courtesy of Bizarre Inc.’s “I’m Gonna Get You”) for an absolute stomper. Like, put down your drink, stand up and bash this one out. The track is pure peak hour indulgence, but who gives a flying squirrel when it’s this good.

The flip on the two-track single is backed up with the help of FREQUENCY for an old skool, rave inspired, subby roller. The pseudo 303 and the synth stabs are enough to bleed you dry and bring you back to life.
