The Prodigy @ Zap Club – UK 1994

Live recording of the legendary Prodigy from way back in 1994. Tearing through some of their biggest tracks they rip up Brightons Zap club.
Currently finishing off a new album Liam Howlett has revealed a few details about the new LP. The crazed frontman described the record as “pure violent energy.” He also teased fans with a few track names, like Beyond The Death Ray, Nasty Nasty, Wall Of Death and Rottweiler.
Speaking about the state of current music, Howlett said that “dance music across all types has become formula-based…It’s “Here’s your drum fill, here’s your build.” All that DJ bollocks and tutorials on YouTube shit. This album is totally organic.”
The album currently has no title or release date, although it’s expected at some point next year. It will be The Prodigy’s first LP since 2009’s Invaders Must Die.
Enjoy this classic recording while you wait.

Future Flex – Nobody
Billy Reeves aka Future Flex is a new and upcoming producer from Brighton. The eagle eyed music lover out there might be able to pick out the connection between ‘ Reeves ‘ and ‘ Brighton ‘ and be able to work out that Billy is indeed the son of the legendary music maker and booty shaker, Krafty Kuts. Although Billy, Future Flex, could have taken the baton of funky Beats and Breaks from his ol’ man he has pitched for a more current House music sound including Deep House with touches of Garage and the increasingly popular Bass music sound.
The track posted is total unadulterated Deep House. Crisp vocals, fluid melodies and throbbing bass, and as a debut track it’s clear to see Future Flex is honing his production skills perefectly and heading in a direction of is own making, along with a little help from dad I’m sure. We here at LSM will be looking forward to hearing more of his work as I’m sure you will.

ABYSS- LIKE NOTHING WE’VE DEALT WITH BEFORE [SWITCHBLADE DIGITAL]

Abyss has been on a roll lately with tracks on Paranoid Recordings, featuring on the recent Blog To The Old Skool Darkside 2014 Compilation plus a vinyl release, he returns to his own label with a slice of frenetic 92/93 style Hardcore Jungle built around a sample from seminal Sci Fi TV show Star Trek that opens the track in a suitably eerie manner with a gradual progression of layered breaks leading into the main drop, T99 style synths, rolling amens and classic old skool style low end sub bass, another killer tune from the man like Abyss!!!!

Kitten And The Hip-Don’t Touch The Kitten (Leygo Remix)
After the freebie bonanza of Leygo’s last visit to the LSM ward he’s back with another belter of a Breaks sprinkled with Electro Swing remix. This time he’s taken Kitten and The Hip’s track ‘ Don’t Touch The Kitten ‘, keeping some of the Electro Swing touches he adds in broken beats and a huge pulsing bassline. Excellent work once again from Leygo, miss this at your peril!

TBT #16 – Mark Ronson – Record Collection (Bobalino Remould)
Time to kick off this weeks Throwback Thursday proceedings with an epic Breaks remix that is an all time favourite of mine and it comes from Progressive Breaks stalwart, Bobalino. The track itself, a remix of Mark Ronson’s ‘ Record Collecection ‘ was posted a couple of years ago and was greeted with much high praise and when you hear the breakdown you will see why. Heavenly may be the best way to describe it! Despite that it is quite a dancfloor banger and one for the record collection, pardon the pun!
Bobalino is also head honcho at Break Wind Productions who have everything on offer in the world of Breakbeat from Psy, Progressive, Tech, Minimal and Booty. Lots to listen to and lots to dance to, have fun!

Gower Preston & Mike Hulme Live at RISE, Manchester
After the huge success of the first Rise night held in London the Stereophoenix crew took themselves and their joyous tribe up North to Manchester for the second instalment. On the bill were Gower Preston, Mike Hulme and Simon Shackleton. Unfortunately Simon forgot to press the record button for his mix, which was incredible as always, but have no fear, the 2 mixes on offer more than make up for it. The mixes are both packed with warm, fuzzy Tech House, Techno and Deep House tracks that are more than a match for the impending chill in the air. Get them downloaded and get those cockles warmed!
